Evan Peters’ Best TV Shows
6. WandaVision (2021)
REVIEW SCORE
Did Evan Peters star in WandaVision? No, but we had to throw it out here to start because it was such a cool addition to the show, bridging the original X-Men timeline with the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Evan Peters shows up in Episode 5 as the character initially presented as Pietro Maximoff, Wanda’s long-lost brother. Marvel fans will know this was the Quicksilver character Evan Peters played in X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Of course, we later find out that Evan Peters’ character is actually Ralph Bohner, a Westview resident under Agatha Harkness’s control.
5. Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story (2022)
REVIEW SCORE
It will go without saying, as you will soon see, that creator/writer extraordinaire Ryan Murphy has found his star in Evan Peters. Murphy consistently turns to Peters for his many TV show creations, and with Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, Murphy once again leaned on Peters. It’s what’s led to some of Evan Peters’s best movies and TV shows.
Dahmer is the first season in Murphy’s new Monster anthology series and sees Peters playing the notorious serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer. The 10-episode series told the gruesome story of the life of Dahmer. Although the series was not a critical success, it found audiences and set numerous viewing records for Netflix.
4. American Horror Story – Asylum (2012)
REVIEW SCORE
One of the highlights of Evan Peters’ movie and TV show career has been American Horror Story. Another Ryan Murphy creation, American Horror Story, is an anthology series that tackles one specific subject each season. Asylum is AHS’s second season, and this one takes place at the fictional mental institution Briarcliff Manor.
Set in 1964, Peters plays Kit Walker, a young man committed to the asylum after being accused of being the infamous serial killer Bloody Face. He professes his innocence, and he just might be right.
3. American Horror Story – Coven (2013)
REVIEW SCORE
Evan Peters holds the American Horror Story record for appearing in the most episodes in the entire franchise. He appeared in the series’ first eight seasons before taking two years off and then returning to it in 2021.
Coven is AHS’s third season entry, telling the story of witches in present-day New Orleans as they fight for survival.
The series also flashes back to several historical events, including the Salem Witch Trials in 1692. Evan Peters is on hand as Kyle Spencer. Among Evan Peters’s movies and TV shows, American Horror Story is one of the most consistent offerings.
2. Mare of Easttown (2021)
REVIEW SCORE
Mare of Easttown is a nifty, taut TV series starring Kate Winslet as Marianne Sheehan, a detective serving in Easttown, Pennsylvania. The series follows Mare, who is investigating the murder of one young girl and the disappearance of another.
While Mare is dealing with those professional troubles, she has personal issues to take care of as well. Compared to some of the other
She is dealing with her divorce, the fact that her son died by suicide, and a custody battle for her grandson. Evan Peters plays Detective Colin Zabel, the detective brought in to help assist Mare. Among Evan Peters’ movies and TV shows, he plays a smaller role here, but he took home an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor.
1. Pose (2018)
REVIEW SCORE
Ryan Murphy once again had his hand in creating another hit TV show. This one was Pose, and once again, Murphy turned to Peters to get things going. The series is set in the late 1980s through the late 1990s and tells the story of the African American and Latino ball culture in New York City.
The ball culture was an underground LGBTQ subculture. Evan Peters appeared in season 1 of Pose as Stan Bowes, a yuppie working at Trump Tower. He is married but eventually ends up having an affair with a trans woman sex worker. From a critical standpoint, this ranks as the best Evan Peters TV show.
The Best Movies
7. Adult World (2013)
REVIEW SCORE
Jumping into Evan Peters’ feature film side, we start with Adult World. Emma Roberts headlines Adult World as Amy Anderson, a young woman aspiring to be a famous poet. To get there and to pay the bills, Amy works at the porn store Adult World.
Evan Peters plays her boss, Alex, who is also a painter. Amy feels her poetry career is on the upswing when she meets one of her favorite poets, Rat Billings (John Cusack), but there are many more pitfalls than she hoped for.
Along the way, Amy and Alex develop a connection, one that just may help her discover her poet’s voice.
6. I Am Woman (2019)
REVIEW SCORE
I Am Woman is an Australian biopic that chronicles the life and career of singer Helen Reddy. Tilda Cobham-Hervey plays Reddy, and the flick focuses on her journey from a single mother arriving in New York City in the 1960s to becoming an international music star in the 1970s.
Specifically, the movie highlights Reddy’s struggles against sexism in the music industry and how she rises to fame with the appropriately titled anthem “I Am Woman”. Evan Peters plays Jeff Wald, Helen Reddy’s husband and manager.
Evan Peters portrays Wald as an ambitious, initially supportive partner who helps launch Reddy’s career. However, as the movie goes, Wald’s character develops a cocaine addiction, which strains their relationship and ultimately leads to the collapse of their marriage. Evan Peters captured both aspects of the character, the one who cared deeply and the one destroyed by addiction.
5. The Pirates of Somalia (2017)
REVIEW SCORE
In The Pirates of Somalia, Evan Peters plays photojournalist Jay Bahadur, a man who found a way to imbed himself with a group of Somalian pirates. The film is based on the true story and book of the same name, also written by Bahadur.
The photojournalist was merely 24 years old when he took the ultimate risk in flying over to Mogadishu during the height of Somalian piracy. The lawless coastline was home to roughly 2,000 pirates and the deeper Bahadur got into it, the greater the danger. Al Pacino, Melanie Griffith, and Barkhad Abdi also star.
4. Elvis & Nixon (2016)
REVIEW SCORE
Elvis & Nixon tells the story of that one, fateful meeting between the King of Rock and Roll and the President of the United States. The date was December 21, 1970, four days before Christmas.
Elvis Presley unexpectedly and unannounced shows up at the White House, with an urgent request to meet with Richard Nixon, our 37th U.S. President. You see, Elvis is tired of what he sees as the imminent collapse of our society.
He opposes the drug culture, the hippie movement, and the Black Panther Party and he would like Nixon to do something about it all. Nixon only sees Elvis’s appearance as a PR stunt and does not appreciate being used this way.
Over time, though, the two men discover they have much more in common than one would think.
Michael Shannon plays Elvis, while Kevin Spacey takes on Richard Nixon. Evan Peters plays the key role of Dwight Chapin, one of the two Nixon senior aides who set up the meeting. Evan Peters’ movies and TV shows haven’t dealt with real people, which is no different.
3. Kick-Ass (2010)
REVIEW SCORE
Kick-Ass is a superhero comedy film from Kingsman: The Secret Service director Matthew Vaughn, who also co-wrote the script. The film, based on the Mark Millar comic book of the same name, tells the story of Dave Lizewski (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), an ordinary teenager with no superpowers, who decides to become a real-life superhero.
As Kick-Ass, he gets a boost when he meets former cop, Big Daddy (Nicolas Cage), who has been training his daughter to be the badass Hit-Girl (Chloë Grace Moretz). Evan Peters plays Todd Haynes, one of Dave’s best friends, who eventually goes by the superhero moniker, Ass-Kicker.
2. American Animals (2018)
REVIEW SCORE
American Animals‘ success came from its very unconventional storytelling technique. The film tells the true-life story of four Transylvania University (in Kentucky) students who planned and carried out the university book heist of rare first-edition books.
The filmmaking is unique in that it stars Evan Peters, Barry Keoghan, Blake Jenner, and Jared Abrahamson as the four criminals, but it also mixes in interviews with the actual real-life thieves. It’s easy to see why this ranks among Evan Peters best movies and TV.
Of course, the robbery was ill-planned with the four getting caught and sent to prison, but is an entertaining story nevertheless and one that rates high on Evan Peters’ best movies and TV shows list.
1. X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014)
REVIEW SCORE
The top-rated movie on Evan Peters’ movies and TV shows list is the 2014 superhero film X-Men: Days of Future Past. It is the seventh film in the X-Men franchise and combines both the past and present versions of the X-Men.
James McAvoy and Patrick Stewart play the young and older version of Charles Xavier while Michael Fassbender and Ian McKellen play the young and older versions of Erik Lehnsherr.
The story tells of robot Sentinels who are hunting down and killing mutants in the present while in the past a young Charles Xavier is using his powers to prevent an assassination in order to alter the future.
Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Lawrence, and Halle Berry reprise their roles of Wolverine, Mystique, and Storm respectively while Evan Peters is back as Peter Maximoff/Quicksilver.
