Chris Brown Documentary Announced With New Domestic Violence Accuser

By Brian Myers | Published

Controversial musician Chris Brown will be the subject of an upcoming documentary that chronicles the hip-hop artist’s seemingly lengthy and extensive history of violence toward women. The upcoming production will feature a woman who is coming forward for the first time, under the condition of anonymity, and will be outlining all of the abuse she allegedly suffered at the hands of Brown.

Chris Brown: A History of Violence will air later in October on Investigation Discovery.

Chris Brown: A History of Violence

The Chris Brown documentary will take viewers all the way back in time to the musician’s childhood days and pose an important question throughout its runtime: with such a sordid history of documented violence, how does someone manage to retain such a high profile in the entertainment industry?

While Brown’s most publicized criminal case is his 2009 arrest that stemmed from felonious assault against then-girlfriend Rihanna, other cases involving the “With You” and “Forever” artist.

In one incident, Brown was charged and pleaded guilty for assault, while another civil suit was filed by yet another woman for alleged sexual assault.

Legal Issues And Domestic Violence History

Chris Brown: A History of Violence will be a documentary that focuses not just on the artist’s legal issues and domestic violence history, but one that uses “expert and cultural commentary” throughout.

The production will also lean heavily on the impact that past abuse trauma has on its survivors and how destructive these incidents can be psychologically.

Following the Chris Brown documentary, The View co-host Sunny Hostin will be shown leading an important discussion about intimate partner violence. The daytime star refers to this crime as a “prevalent epidemic which knows no socio-economic boundaries” and says that having conversations about it is critical to helping survivors while also working to prevent incidents from occurring.

Not The First Documentary

Chris Brown: A History of Violence is not the first documentary that Investigation Discovery has produced that has focused on controversial topics.

Earlier in 2024, a five-part documentary series titled Quiet on the Set was released, focusing on allegations surrounding the toxic and abusive work environment for child stars on the set of popular Nickelodeon television shows as well as the conviction of the disgraced actor/producer Brian Peck.

Peck was convicted in 2003 for sexually assaulting a 15-year-old star of Drake & Josh.

Diddy Up Next?

The upcoming program is the third annual installment of the network’s “No Excuse for Abuse” campaign.

The Chris Brown documentary won’t be the last one produced by Investigation Discovery, though. With the recent revelations surrounding Sean “Diddy” Combs, the network is hard at work planning an upcoming production focusing on the musician/producer’s criminal charges and civil lawsuits.

While Chris Brown is currently free, Sean Combs is sitting in the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn awaiting trial on a series of charges that range from sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy. If convicted of the three existing federal charges against him, Combs could face up to life in prison with a 15 year minimum sentence.

The Chris Brown documentary will air on Investigation Discovery on October 27 at 9 PM.
