This weekend, audiences will finally get to see Channing Tatum star in Blink Twice, the thriller that will mark Zoë Kravitz’s big directorial debut. Those who settle into theater seats to catch the movie on the big screen will be shown a trigger warning at the top, as the movie’s main theme displays a sexual power dynamic between the main character (Tatum) and several of the secondary characters.

The Warning

The message reads as follows:

“Trigger warning: We are proud to finally share ‘Blink Twice’ with audiences in theaters worldwide this week. ‘Blink Twice’ is a psychological thriller about the abuse of power. While this is a fictionalized movie, it contains mature themes and depictions of violence – including sexual violence. This may be upsetting or triggering for some viewers. For resources that offer support, visit BlinkTwiceResources.com.”

While some may roll their eyes at the trigger warning, it will feel to many more as a step in the right direction and a good call on the side of Zoë Kravitz for putting audiences first.

There have been plenty of trailers, teasers, and images during the movie’s promotional campaign that have teased how ruthless and cunning Channing Tatum’s character will be in Blink Twice but some folks may just be along for the ride. Not everyone is a diehard movie-goer who knows everything they’re about to see and may have ended up at the cinema by request of a friend.

Help If Needed

The trigger warning at the top is a responsible choice for the first-time director and Amazon MGM Studios to make as they’re ensuring a comfortable experience for their audience. Not only that, but the folks behind Channing Tatum’s latest project are giving those in attendance of Blink Twice screenings a place to go to learn more and maybe find some help if needed.

Those who head to the website provided in the pre-show trigger warning will see plenty of messages of support as well as information about the RAINN sexual assault hotline and the organization No More.

Blink Twice

Channing Tatum leads the cast in Blink Twice as a loaded tech mogul named Slater King. Out and about living the high life, Slater’s path crosses with a cocktail waitress named Frida (Naomi Ackie) and her friend, Jess (Alia Shawkat), whom he invites to accompany him and some friends to his private island.

Upon their arrival, the two women feel like they’re in the middle of paradise but the vibe almost immediately feels off and the ladies, along with a handful of other guests, begin to lose their short-term memory.

The Cast

Along with Channing Tatum and the movie’s two leading ladies, Blink Twice will keep audiences in a constant state of recognition as Kravitz’s directorial debut is packed full of notable faces.

Viewers can expect to see the familiar mugs of Christian Slater (Interview with the Vampire), Simon Rex (the Scary Movie franchise), Haley Joel Osment (The Sixth Sense), Adria Arjona (Hit Man), Geena Davis (A League of Their Own), and Kyle MacLachlan (Twin Peaks).

Kravitz’s Directorial Debut

Having celebrated a fruitful career in front of the camera working on feature-length titles like The Batman, the Fantastic Beasts film series, and X-Men: First Class, as well as on the small screen in HBO’s smash-hit Big Little Lies, Zoë Kravitz shows the world her directorial chops in Blink Twice.

The movie also marks a major milestone in the creative’s life as it’s where she met her current partner, Channing Tatum, with the director and leading man of Blink Twice now in a committed relationship.

This weekend, head to the cinema to watch Channing Tatum psychologically torture a group of people so badly that a trigger warning was needed as Blink Twice is now playing in theaters.
