Bigfoot Video Goes Viral On TikTok

By TeeJay Small | Published

Avid followers of cryptids, folklore, and mythical mysteries galore are surely well-acquainted with tales of Bigfoot caught on video. Monster hunters from across the contiguous United States have been searching for the Sasquatch for decades.

Though most footage of the creature is grainy and nigh unintelligible, a recent TikTok shared by an Oklahoma native seems to offer the first crisp, 4K view of the rumored man-beast for all the world to gawk at.

The video currently touts millions of views and tens of thousands of comments from other TikTok users who range from true believers to full-on skeptics.

Scariest moment of my life and I really think I caught a fucking Bigfoot on camera in parallel forest. I wakes just doing some sight seeing and enjoying the day and saw something in the distance. Im still shaking as I type this. #bigfoot #sighting #oklahoma #parallelforest #fyp #scared

The Bigfoot video was posted by a TikTok user named Emmanuel Alfaro, who promises, via his user bio, that every one of his videos will be different from the last. That certainly seems to be the case with the Bigfoot footage, as hunting for creatures of American folklore through the forests of Lawton, Oklahoma, is far outside the scope of his usual content.

Though the clip is only 9 seconds in total run time, it appears to show the Sasquatch sniffing and chomping on a piece of greenery while relaxing between a few nearby trees.

Alfaro attempts to zoom in on Bigfoot to get a closer look, though the video ultimately concludes when the creature turns its humanoid head to stare down the camera, causing the hiker to panic and run off, after breathlessly exclaiming “oh s***!”

Comments on the TikTok post include a wide range of reactions, including many who believe the Bigfoot caught on camera to be the genuine article. Many commenters were quick to point out that the world is currently undergoing a number of completely absurd developments, so the confirmed existence of Bigfoot wouldn’t even shock them anymore.

The Bigfoot video has also unearthed tons of skeptics, who believe that the post is a transparent hoax, a deepfake VFX…or a man in a Sasquatch suit

Of course, the Bigfoot video has also unearthed tons of skeptics, who believe that the post is a transparent hoax, a deepfake VFX shot of an orangutan, or a man in a Sasquatch suit. The original uploader has been quick to respond to a number of comments, expressing that his encounter with the beast was nothing short of terrifying, further lending credence to the shocking footage.

Bigfoot video was, in fact, a part of an elaborate ad campaign

As much as I hate to ruin a good time, I must inform you that the skeptics were right on the money, and the Bigfoot video was, in fact, a part of an elaborate ad campaign. A marijuana and vape dispensary operating out of Lawton, Oklahoma, eventually took responsibility for the video, which serves as an alternate angle of a commercial shoot.

The dispensary is aptly titled Bigfoot Head Shop, and their company logo includes the visage of the titular folk monster clad in some bright green “hippie” style gear.

The suit used to create the Bigfoot video is quite similar to the one commonly seen in television advertisements for Jack Links Beef Jerky, which was a dead giveaway for a few eagle-eyed TikTokers. Still, while this particular video turned out to be a hoax, it doesn’t mean that the real Bigfoot isn’t out there, scrolling through social media and plotting his revenge on the Oklahoma weed dealers that have disturbed his peace for the umpteenth time.
