As the Halloween season rapidly approaches its apex, stars from around the entertainment sphere have been parading their latest and greatest outfits for the ghoulish holiday. Parties and social events have seen guests such as Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco arrive dressed as Alice in Wonderland and the Mad Hatter, while acclaimed singer Lizzo has humorously dressed herself in a full-body Ozempic suit, in a hilarious nod to a recent South Park gag. One Academy-recognized actor, on the other hand, Timothee Chalamet, chose to take it easy this year by dressing in his weekend best and appearing in a Timothee Chalamet lookalike contest.

Timothee Chalamet Crashed His Lookalike Contest

The Timothee Chalamet lookalike event took place in New York City on the evening of Sunday, October 27. Despite the highly niche nature of the event, organizers managed to draw massive crowds, including many who donned the look of Chalamet’s greatest characters.

Fans certainly had many iconic looks to choose from, as the 28-year-old performer has had recent starring roles in films such as Wonka, Don’t Look Up, The French Dispatch, and both installments of Denis Villeneuve’s Dune. He is also slated to star in the upcoming Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown.

While many fans completely nailed their respective pre-Halloween cosplays, one attendee managed to embody the spirit of Timothee Chalamet better than any other. Needless to say, super-fans of Chalamet’s work were shocked to realize that the actual man, the myth, the legend, had arrived at the event himself, prompting a flurry of photos and videos from hundreds of cell phone cameras.

Since he’s the genuine article, Chalamet didn’t seem to feel the need to don any of his screen-worn apparel, and instead arrived in a simple navy sweater and a baseball cap.

The Cops Intervened

Somehow, Timothee Chalamet’s arrival at the Timothee Chalamet lookalike contest was not the biggest surprise of the evening, as it turned out organizers didn’t acquire proper permits for the event. As night began to fall, New York City police descended upon the crowd, and demanded everyone disperse before they began handing out summons for trespassing, loitering, and whatever else is illegal about pretending to be Paul Atreides.

Even with the police working to break up the event, the hosts moved forward with their contest, and ultimately awarded a $50 prize to a purple-suited Willy Wonka cosplayer.

The Easiest Costume To Pull Off

Obviously, the Timothee Chalamet-centered event made numerous local headlines, and inspired tons of people across the web to tune in virtually. Many users joked about Chalamet’s presence at the event, jesting that the actor may have fallen on hard times and opted to appear for the $50 payout. Others were critical of the organizers for not getting proper permits, though New York natives are well aware that events like this pop up constantly in Washington Square Park.

Any way you slice it, Timothee Chalamet certainly had the least difficult-to-assemble Halloween costume. The actor was likely counting his blessings that he didn’t need to ride into the party on the back of a giant sand worm. We can only hope as the date of Halloween night approaches that other celebrities don’t follow suit and create massive commotion amongst trick or treaters.
