Mr. Beast Lunchly Meals Get Gross FDA Complaints
Even if you don’t spend much time on YouTube, you’ve probably heard about the food-related controversy concerning some of the platform’s biggest stars. Mr. Beast, KSI, and Logan Paul all worked together to create Lunchly, a Lunchables-style product aimed squarely at their very young audiences. There have been reports of the food tasting bad and even being moldy, and some consumers have now taken their complaints to the FDA.
The Complaints
Certainly, Mr. Beast has been a continuous source of controversy lately, but nobody expected his Lunchly product to be the center of so much public ire. Previously, this annoyance was limited to social media posts and the occasional angry reaction video to these streaming-sponsored snacks. Now, however, TMZ is reporting that over 10 consumers have made complaints to the Food and Drug Administration, with one of them claiming they contracted an illness that may be linked to the Lunchly they ate.
Does that mean that Mr. Beast, KSI, and Logan Paul should expect a knock on the door from the feds about Lunchly anytime soon? Not necessarily…according to TMZ, the FDA is reviewing all of the complaints they have received but is not currently taking any action against the product or the streamers behind it. Following that investigation, the FDA may very well issue an advisory if they determine that this Lunchables alternative is a danger to public health.
Ironically enough, the earliest complaints about this new product came from Mr. Beast’s preferred platform, with at least one notable influencer taking to YouTube to complain about her Lunchly experience. The influencer in question is Rosanna Pansino, who posted a video intending to review the new product (reviews of food and just about everything else are a platform staple).
In her video, Pansino revealed that her Lunchly pizza came with some extra mushrooms…in this case, a nasty fungus that would have been potentially dangerous to consume.
Mr. Beast And Logan Paul’s Controversies
Understandably, this video and testimony from other customers ignited suspicion that Mr. Beast, KSI, and Logan Paul might be pushing something inedible (at best) or dangerous (at worst) to their very young audiences via Lunchly.
That would be bad under any circumstances, but it’s arguably worse for the influencers behind the brand because of their previous controversies. For example, many of us still remember Logan Paul as the “laughing at a suicide victim’s corpse” guy, and Mr. Beast has been accused of violating the Geneva Convention during the production of Amazon’s Beast Games competition and faces multiple lawsuits from competitors.
Lunchly’s Response
With Mr. Beast getting accused of actual war crimes, it’s fair to say that controversy regarding Lunchly is pretty much the last thing he needs. However, a Lunchly representative spoke to TMZ and insisted that all of their products undergo “a stringent review process to ensure…quality and safety.” The representative highlighted that this process involves “multiple inspections and approvals, including that of the USDA, before any product can even leave the manufacturing facility.”
Right now, it’s a toss-up whether Mr. Beast, KSI, or Logan Paul will be negatively affected by these FDA reports…other allegations haven’t dented their popularity, so this Lunchly controversy may hardly move the needle with their fans. Then again, the court of public opinion is often very fickle, and it’s possible that this food tasting nasty and being allegedly prone to dangerous ingredients will make the public turn their backs on these streamers. Should that happen, it’s entirely possible that future food poisoning incidents will get a brand new nickname: “the mark of Mr. Beast.”
