The 2022 release of director Baz Luhrmann’s epic biographical film Elvis recently put the spotlight on the Presley family. Soon after lead actor Austin Butler took home the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama for his performance in the titular role, Elvis’ real-life daughter Lisa Marie Presley died suddenly at the age of 54. She leaves behind several relatives, including her half-brother Navarone Garibaldi.

Navarone Garibaldi might not be directly related by blood to Elvis Presley, but his ties to the family run deep. The son of Elvis’ former wife, Priscilla, Navarone has cultivated a career and personal life all his own. As Priscilla Presley’s only other child besides Lisa Marie, Navarone Garibaldi has had to carve out a lane outside the Presley family. 35-year-old Navarone was born in Santa Monica, California to Priscilla and Marco Garibaldi, a Brazilian screenwriter who changed careers to become a computer programmer. Priscilla divorced Elvis in 1973 and had romantic entanglements with several men before beginning a 22-year relationship with Marco Garibaldi.

Though his parents never got married, Navarone Garibaldi grew up in the limelight watching his mother perform. When she was pregnant with him, Priscilla was acting in the primetime soap opera Dallas. Her pregnancy was eventually written into the television series, so Navarone got his first brush with fame even before he entered the world.

Navarone Garibaldi is almost 20 years younger than his half-sister Lisa Marie Presley, and he had to grow up in the shadow of a famous family. Raised in the Los Angeles area, Navarone took a page out of his half-sister’s book and began performing on the stage as a musician.

He helped start the band Them Guns, which consists of Garibaldi on guitar and lead vocals, Kyle Hamood on lead guitar, vocals, and keys, Bobby Vegas on drums, and Chuck Holiday on bass.

Them Guns is Los Angeles-based, and they consider themselves to be a band that plays mostly rock music. As the frontman for the band, Navarone Garibaldi has likened the band’s sound to that of Nine Inch Nails and the Chemical Brothers. Them Guns has played sold-out shows in famous venues like The Viper Room and The Troubadour in West Hollywood, California.

According to Meer, Them Guns once played a live show in 2013 at The Kings Head Club in east London, the first time the venue hosted a live band in its history. The band is still making music to this day, releasing a new song called “Acid Plane” earlier this month.

DRUGS HAVE BEEN AN ISSUE FOR NAVARONE GARIBALDI

According to People, Navarone Garibaldi has had his fair share of problems with drugs, specifically a fentanyl addiction. Open about his struggles with drugs, not unlike some members of the Presley family, Garibaldi started using heroin in his teenage years. The problem progressed later into adulthood when he became addicted to fentanyl, so much so that he claimed to “need it every 45 minutes.”

Around 2020, Navarone Garibaldi got clean and stopped using opioids and hard drugs. He married Elisa Achilli in Switzerland in 2022 and has seemed to press the reset button on his life in order to stay clean for his wife and bandmates.

He continues to be involved with his band and has yet to have children, but he has become more involved with family matters thanks to his relationship with his famous mother.

HE IS PART OF A FAMILY ENTERTAINMENT LEGACY

Lisa Marie Presley passed away in January 2023, leaving behind several children, her mother Priscilla, and half-brother Navarone Garibaldi. Lisa Marie was buried at her famous father’s home in Graceland, in the same burial space as her young son Benjamin Keough. Navarone’s nephew and Lisa Marie’s son, Benjamin Keough, died in 2020 at the age of 27 from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Navarone Garibaldi and his half-sister Lisa Marie Presley weren’t apparently close in the years leading up to her death. However, the two share famous names and relatives contributing to the family’s legacy in the entertainment business.

Lisa Marie was married four times throughout her life, most notably to singer Michael Jackson, actor Nicolas Cage, and musician Michael Lockwood. All of these men were brothers-in-law to Garibaldi at one point during his life.

Besides his mother Priscilla Presley’s work as an actor in the television series Dallas and The Naked Gun set of films, Navarone Garibaldi is related to other well-known performers. Through his half-sister, Garibaldi is the uncle to actor Riley Keough, who has appeared in a number of popular movies like Magic Mike and Mad Max: Fury Road. Keough is married to stuntman Ben Smith-Petersen and has been nominated for a Golden Globe for her work on the television series The Girlfriend Experience.

Though not as active as other musicians on social media, Navarone Garibaldi does post to Instagram as often as he can. After his sister Lisa Marie Presley’s death became global news, Garibaldi posted a loving tribute to his famous half-sibling.

Most of his social media presence revolves around promoting his band Them Guns in addition to Garibaldi’s TikTok account and Cameo requests.

LISA MARIE PRESLEY’S NET WORTH HAS BEEN THE SUBJECT OF DISCUSSION AFTER HER DEATH

Before her second act in life, helping to raise her son Navarone Garibaldi, Priscilla Presley had become an overnight sensation after marrying Elvis when she was 22 years old.

Priscilla gave birth to Lisa Marie in 1968 and raised her almost on her own after her divorce from Elvis in 1973 and Elvis’ untimely death in 1977. Upon his death, Elvis’ parents and 9-year-old Lisa Marie became the joint heir to his estate.

Lisa Marie eventually inherited the estate in full on her 25th birthday after her grandparents had passed away.

At the time that Lisa Marie Presley became the sole heir to her father’s fortune, the estate was estimated to be around $100 million. In 2004, she made the tough decision to sell roughly 85 percent of the estate, which included the rights to Elvis’ name and image. 

Lisa Marie Presley’s net worth at the time of her death in January 2023 was dramatically different due to her former business manager allegedly wasting most of her fortune, resulting in her net worth being estimated to be around $10 million.
