Christopher Judge
Christopher Judge is an actor and voice actor probably best known for his time on Stargate SG-1. We say “probably best known” because Judge has done some voice work that might possibly be more well-known, you just may not know it is his voice. He’s had an excellent career even if much of it has come off-camera.
CHRISTOPHER JUDGE VOICES KRATOS IN GOD OF WAR
While Christopher Judge used his voice on many animated shows, he also used it on video games. His voice can be heard on two of the World of Warcraft games, World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor and World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth. Judge also can be heard on StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void.
His biggest video game role came when he got the part as Kratos in the very popular video game series God Of War. By taking the role, he replaced Terrence Carson, who had voiced Kratos since the game’s inception. He’s next expected to be heard as Kratos in the upcoming release God of War: Ragnarök.
The main reason for the change was the camera work needed for the new God of War game required a larger man than Carson to perform the motion capture. While Carson had done motion capture in the previous games, for this one they required a person who would look closer to Kratos’ size when compared to his son in the game.
At 6-foot-3 with the body of a football player, Christopher Judge easily fit the bill, plus had already done plenty of voice work. It helped that Judge also bonded well with his then 10-year-old star Sunny Suljic, who plays his son in the game.
CHRISTOPHER JUDGE WAS IN SIRENS
Christopher Judge began his acting career in 1990, finding work on both the big and small screen. He was seen in episodes of the original MacGyver, 21 Jump Street, Booker, Neon Rider, and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
His biggest TV role came when he grabbed the part of Officer Richard Stiles in the series Sirens. It lasted only two seasons but Christopher Judge was in all 22 episodes. Judge was also seen in the feature films Bird On A Wire, Cadence, and House Party 2. While his work wasn’t overwhelming early on, it did prepare him for his big break on a big series.
CHRISTOPHER JUDGE STEPS THROUGH THE STARGATE AS TEAL’C
Stargate SG-1 began in 1997 and lasted for 10 seasons, producing 213 episodes during that time. Of the cast, there are only 2 who appeared in each and every episode: Amanda Tapping was one and yes, Christopher Judge was the other.
In SG-1, Judge portrayed a Jaffa alien named Teal’c, who has defected his position as the First Prime of the Goa’uld Apophis in order to lead his race to freedom. It took him and SG-1 until the end of the eighth season to accomplish this feat, and though it was accomplished, Christopher Judge continued as Teal’c until the series ended two seasons later.
Judge appeared in the two Stargate movies, Stargate: The Ark of Truth and Stargate: Continuum, reprising his role as Teal’c. He also made an appearance in the SG-1 spin-off series Stargate Atlantis. During his Stargate run, Christopher Judge also tried his hand at writing, penning four episodes in the series.
CHRISTOPHER JUDGE ALSO HAD VOICE ROLES FOR X-MEN AND MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE
Life during SG-1 was busy for Christopher Judge. He continued his work on the series but found much more outside of it. This is when he began his career as a voice actor.
Chris Judge lent his voice to series such as Adventures from the Book of Virtues, Action Man, X-Men: Evolution, and Masters of the Universe vs. the Snake Men. He also voiced Def Jam: Fight for NY, playing the baddie D-Mob. All this came during his SG-1 heyday and thankfully did not slow down when SG-1 ended.
HE WAS IN MEGA SHARK VS. MECHA SHARK AND SHARKNADO
Christopher Judge continued to work both on and off-screen when SG-1 ended its run. He was seen in TV roles like NCIS: Los Angeles, and The Mentalist while grabbing roles in movies such as Rehab and The Dark Knight Rises.
In 2014-15, Christopher Judge found himself dealing with sharks, not once but twice. He was first in the movie Mega Shark vs. Mecha Shark and then followed that beauty up with a role in the popular campy Sharknado franchise when he was seen in the third entry, Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! If you are keeping count, there are actually six films in the franchise.
CHRISTOPHER JUDGE IS IN MINUTES TO MIDNIGHT
Christopher Judge continues to perform both in front of the camera and in recording studio with his voice work. Recently he was seen in the films Minutes to Midnight and Bad Company while also voicing Brick Crashman in the animated series Wacky Races.
His came with Netflix’s hybrid-animation superhero satire The Guardians of Justice (Will Save You!) and for the upcoming video game God of War: Ragnarök . No doubt Christopher Judge would be ready, willing, and able if SG-1 were to ever make a comeback, but until that time, he looks and sounds to be continuing with a successful career outside the world of Stargate.
