Kim Kardashian’s Dead Father Was Resurrected As A Hologram For Her Birthday
Kim Kardashian got a wild and weird gift from Kanye West on her birthday.
It all started with a simple renting of a private island for only the closest of friends and family. This was how Kim Kardashian wanted to spend her 40th birthday and she did just that. The backlash that followed was brutal and rightfully so, but what came out of Ms. Kardashian West’s 40th birthday could either be considered creepy or genius, we’ll let you decide.
To all who attended, the party was a smashing success. For Kim Kardashian West, her surprise came when hubby Kanye presented her with his gift. No, not a new luxury automobile, they have enough of those. No, not diamond earrings, necklace, or rings, how shallow. Not a new home (or two), how many does one actually need? No, her thoughtful husband decided to do something totally different for his wife. Kardashian West spilled the beans over her Twitter account. “For my birthday, Kanye got me the most thoughtful gift of a lifetime. A special surprise from heaven. A hologram of my dad. ✨🤍 It is so lifelike! We watched it over and over, filled with emotion.” A hologram. Of her father, who had passed away in 2003. Robert Kardashian, who famously defended OJ Simpson.
When it comes to the Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, it is most definitely Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous. Their history has been well documented, their luxuries well chronicled and photographed ad nauseam, so we will try not to dip too far into the Kardashian-West pool of wealth. But when turning 40 and wanting to rent an island for family and friends, it’s kind of hard not to at least stick a toe in the deep wealth end.
Kim Kardashian followed up that Tweet with another. “I can’t even describe what this meant to me and my sisters, my brother, my mom and closest friends to experience together. Thank you so much Kanye for this memory that will last a lifetime ✨ Here’s a more close up view to see the incredible detail.”
The actual hologram is pretty nice. In it, Kim’s father wishes her a happy birthday with the promise that he is looking down on her every day. He shares some memories with her and at one point even begins to dance to “Rama Lama Ding Dong” a ‘50s song by The Edsels. He showers praise upon her for her choice of following in his footsteps as a lawyer but then comes this, “…you married the most, most, most, most, MOST genius man in the whole world, Kanye West.” Seriously.
Not everyone was on board with Kanye’s gift to his wife. One tweet read: “Kim Kardashian getting a hologram of her dead dad while millions of Americans didn’t even get to tell their parents goodbye or go to their funerals thanks to COVID is too on the nose.” Another dissatisfied customer said, “I’m sure the 230,000 Americans who died from Covid would love to bring joy to their families with a hologram. I suspect you and Kanye could pay for that given the millions of dollars you got in PPP money. I’m filled with emotion just thinking about it since those folks DIED ALONE.”
But it wasn’t only the hologram gift that raised the ire of many, it was also the fact that Kardashian West chose to celebrate by traveling to the private island during the pandemic. She got raked over the coals. “Glad to see the Kardashians are thriving while the rest of us desperately need a fucking $1200 bare minimum stimulus package that’s never coming in order to try to make ends somewhat meet.” Another had this to say to her, “Jesus Christ Kim this might be the most tone deaf thing you’ve ever posted. People are dying, losing their incomes and starving right now.”
The backlash didn’t go unnoticed as Kardashian West decided to respond via her Instagram, “40 and feeling so humbled and blessed. There is not a single day that I take for granted, especially during these times when we are all reminded of the things that truly matter. For my birthday this year, I couldn’t think of a better way to spend it than with some of the people who have helped shaped me into the woman I am today. Before COVID, I don’t think any of us truly appreciated what a simple luxury it was to be able to travel and be together with family and friends in a safe environment. After 2 weeks of multiple health screens and asking everyone to quarantine, I surprised my closest inner circle with a trip to a private island where we could pretend things were normal just for a brief moment in time. We danced, rode bikes, swam near whales, kayaked, watched a movie on the beach and so much more. I realize that for most people, this is something that is so far out of reach right now, so in moments like these, I am humbly reminded of how privileged my life is. #thisis40.”
So, where do we land on this one? Is the hologram creepy? Is the hologram amazing and well done? What about her decision to celebrate her 40th however she chooses? Let us know your thoughts on this one!
