Star Wars Swaps Soundtracks With Star Trek And Avengers 2 Encounters Celine Dion
Music matters when it comes to movies. Like, a lot. That truth was brilliantly demonstrated by that video a while back where somebody stripped all the John Williams score out of the medal ceremony that wraps up the first Star Wars movie. With Williams’ music in place, a simple scene becomes truly epic. Without it, it’s soooooo very awkward. So, taking that thesis into account, what would happen if you took music created for one movie and dropped it into another? Obviously, the majority of the time this would probably result in a huge mess, but one enterprising fan decided to take a bit of Star Trek and merge it with a bit of Star Wars. You can see the results below.
For the record, that’s Vimeo user Ronen V swapping out John Williams’ Star Wars score for a bit of Michael Giacchino’s gorgeous music from the Star Trek reboot. I must say, it works amazingly well, even managing to sync up at some of the perfect moments, like when Luke switches off his targeting computer, or when Han rides in out of the blue and saves Luke’s bacon. It doesn’t hurt that Giacchino’s Trek score is one of my favorite things about the reboot movies. (Not that classic Trek was any slouch in the music department; I just love Giacchino’s stuff too.) I wonder how well the reverse would work, taking Star Trek’s climactic moments and adding some Williams magic? Somebody get on that, please. In the meantime, here’s the original for comparison’s sake.
Now then, speaking of uncanny and unexpected synchronization, the mad geniuses at Martin Revelation Films somehow realized that if you replace the audio from the recent Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer with Celene Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On” (and do a little judicious editing), the results are both perfect and hilariously wrong. I will now refer to all sudden percussion in songs as “the hammer drop.” Also, maybe Ultron is just misunderstood because he’s looking for love. “There are no rings on me.”
And here’s the action-packed original, Pinocchio music and all. Except now I’m never going to be able to watch it again without hearing Celene Dion. Say, maybe the Heart of the Ocean is one of the Infinity Stones…
