The Clone WarsWhen Disney canceled Star Wars: The Clone Wars after the company acquired Lucasfilm, there were a lot of questions about how the long-running animated series would wrap up its on-going storyline. As it stands, the end of season five left the story open ended. Now we’ve learned that The Clone Wars will air season six, the last thirteen episodes of the series, on German TV this February.

According to Jedi News, German channel SuperRTL will burn off the last remaining episodes of The Clone Wars with an Order 66 story arc. The series takes place between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith in the Star Wars timeline. It’s a bit unclear why Palpatine executed Order 66 BEFORE Revenge of the Sith, so maybe this is some sort of a trial run before the real game plan begins. The article also has the season six synopsis. Be warned, this is from a German press release, but translated into English with Google Translate, so take it with a grain of salt.

SuperRTL will show one every Saturday for thirteen weeks starting on February 15. Perhaps Disney and Lucasfilm will air these episodes closer to the start of Star Wars: Rebels in October. One thing is clear: these episodes will air on U.S. TV sometime in 2014. Jedi News’ source StarWars-Union.de also obtained the episode titles and brief rundowns for most of the episodes. At the moment, it’s unclear how these new episodes will line up with Dark Horse Comic’s conclusion to The Clone Wars. The indie publisher is preparing a four-part ending called Darth Maul: Son of Dathomir. We’ll see if the two cross over. Nevertheless, it’s good to see that there is some enthusiasm over wrapping the series.

Lucasfilm recently announced that they assembled the Lucasfilm Story Group, who are in charge of deciding what is considered Star Wars canon. The LSG might decide that the Dark Horse end won’t be considered Star Wars canon and the animated conclusion of The Clone Wars might line-up perfectly with what Disney and Lucasfilm are trying to do with expanding its narrative universe.

The beginning of the end of Star Wars: The Clone Wars kicks off on February 15th on SuperRTL. We’ll keep you posted on when these episodes would air in the States.
