It may sound rough, but another one bites the dust, as Next Games has announced the sunset of The Walking Dead: Our World — a mobile game based on AMC’s popular series, which just received its final episode. For those unfamiliar with the game, we’re discussing a mobile title that’s similar to the controversial Pokemon Go, but instead of collecting and battling Pokemon in real-world AR (augmented reality) environments, players got to fight zombies, or walkers, as they’re called in the series.

The news about the sunset of The Walking Dead mobile game comes directly from the game’s developer Next Games. The studio has announced that it made a difficult decision to discontinue the development of The Walking Dead: Our World on the game’s official website, stating that the game will remain available until January 31, 2023. Following the scheduled server shutdown, the game will become unavailable for all players that have previously downloaded the game. Its removal from digital storefronts still hasn’t been announced.

The Walking Dead: Our World was released in mid-2018 and has been a go-to location-based shooter for many TDW-loving mobile gamers. During these four years, the game’s developer has provided a fun and engaging gaming experience to the community, for which they have expressed their gratitude in their public announcement regarding the game’s shutdown. The announcement dropped on November 24, and it was followed by immediate termination of online store and in-app purchases — something numerous titles are currently doing.

Additionally, the company announced a series of changes that would support The Walking Dead: Our World players on their collective way toward the game’s shutdown. For example, the ongoing Battle Pass Seasons and Mini-Seasons were discontinued, so there won’t be any new group boards starting. In-game energy regeneration time has been reduced to two minutes, and players can now get more energy from the supply crates, allowing them to explore the map for as long as they want. This also includes the increased Free Roam speed and duration, which is now bumped up to 30 minutes.

Those currently playing can also expect more Coin rewards from in-game missions, which also grant more cards and higher chances to win Mythic heroes. In-game video ads, whose purpose is to keep the game alive, will now drop bigger and better rewards., and all players that are level 7+ will receive a special “Thank You” package for their continuous support throughout the years. However, that’s not all of it; Next Games also included a promo code for those playing The Walking Dead: No Man’s Land, which would grant The Walking Dead: Our World players numerous goodies.

Even those who just recently started The Walking Dead: No Man’s Land will benefit from Next Games’ promo code (OW2022), granting them a head start with a reward pack in the game. It’s worth noting that this promo code only applies to players that are Council Level 12 or below. AMC’s The Walking Dead series has recently ended, and apparently, the series creator is having legal quarrels with AMC over the series’ production.
