Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is the latest spin-off in the Borderlands franchise that mixes the well-known shooter-looter series with some roleplaying elements derived from video and tabletop games such as Dungeons & Dragons. Admittedly, the release has become incredibly popular and a massive commercial and critical success due to its abundance of content that’s regularly expanded through DLCs. 2K Games (Take-Two Interactive), the game’s publisher, just launched another DLC for the game called Glutton’s Gamble.
According to GamesRadar+, the DLC is already available to buy and can be acquired through the game’s season pass. A new trailer, which you can check out above, shows off a new villain — the Sand Witch. To be honest, she doesn’t look like a typical fairy tale witch, at least not initially, but there’s a pretty big cauldron involved, and we highly suspect she’s running an in-game people’s kitchen for starving gaming avatars. However, it’s her culinary-themed powers that will set the gamers throughout Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands in search of a peculiar assortment of ingredients.
This search for different ingredients will be presented through weekly challenges, with the aim to satiate Sand Witch’s otherwise insatiable hunger. Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands: Glutton’s Gamble is the second of four content drops promised by the game’s developer, Geardrop, exclusive to those who bought the game’s season pass. The first content drop, called Coiled Captors, also proved to be a success, which narratively led to a fight against a god, so it only stands to reason that we’ll fight the Sand Witch eventually.
The importance of weekly challenges and ingredients gathered isn’t explicitly stated, but it’s known that players will have to face her as an in-game boss. Alongside the Witch, there are several NPC opponents introduced in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, ranging from skeletal spellcasters to hilarious opponents that seem entirely dipped into Halloween candy, rushing to meet the Muffin Man living on Drury Lane. Of course, that’s not the end of novelties, and just like every other Gearbox DLC, Glutton’s Gamble brings some new loot to Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands.
As we previously mentioned, the Borderlands series, which is expecting a cinematic release, is built using a shooter-looter formula, which makes look a major aspect of the series, and Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands isn’t any different from the rest of the series in that regard. The trailer only briefly shows a few new guns, but we don’t have any stats on them for the time being. Aesthetically speaking, they match the theme of the new DLC and are likely to play a crucial role in dealing with the Witch.
It would seem that Gearbox has established a monthly release schedule for DLC drops, considering that Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands was released in March, the first DLC called Coiled Captors was released the following month, and now the Glutton’s Gamble launched in May. So, it’s safe to assume that we’ll witness another June, though Gearbox hasn’t specified any timing for the drop. Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands was released on all the major platforms, and after some initial cross-play issues, the game soon became an absolute hit among players.
