See The Wild Campaign First Look For Modern Warfare 2
Modern Warfare 2 has revealed its first photorealistic gameplay footage.

Activision Blizzard (ABK) and Infinity Ward finally dropped the first Modern Warfare 2 launch trailer just mere moments ago, and it’s filled with gameplay footage of the upcoming game. We have to admit that ABK and Infinity Ward are really pushing the boundaries of graphical fidelity; the sequel to one of the most popular games in existence looks absolutely fantastic — not to say photorealistic. The actual gameplay footage can be viewed on PlayStation’s official Twitter account.
The gameplay trailer for the upcoming Modern Warfare 2 was dropped during a live stream-style reveal on Call of Duty’s official YouTube channel. Admittedly, this is a strange practice, releasing a launch trailer weeks ahead of the actual launch, but Infinity Ward and ABK might be hoping to ramp up the pre-orders of the game by allowing gamers to play the campaign up to a week early. However, while this sounds like a bargain deal, the actual playtime is actually based on estimated access and is subject to the possible outage.
Regardless of this strange practice, the Modern Warfare 2 trailer looks fantastic, and the focus of the recently dropped video is solely on the single-player campaign experience, with plenty of new footage. The footage is comprised of both gameplay and cutscenes footage, and while it’s obviously animated, the graphical fidelity is so high that we’re worried about the future of the movie industry — live actors, apart from their physical appearance and vocal skills, are becoming redundant with each new generation of computer hardware and graphical processing.
The scenes within the trailer move too fast, but the narrative seems to revolve around the war on terror and its detrimental effects on the affected social structures — as the Modern Warfare 2 trailer said, “as long as there’s a war on terror, there will be no real war on drugs.” Though war is hell everywhere, it’s nice to see the franchise distance itself from mere shootouts in WWII, the Cold War era, and Vietnam and dive into war doctrines, as well as the political and financial drivers of conflict. As the footage clearly demonstrates, one man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter.
Modern Warfare 2’s campaign continues the narrative of the 2019’s Modern Warfare reboot, with Captain Price’s iconic Taskforce 141 fully formed and participating in worldwide missions. The task force and its combat capabilities are showcased in the trailer. ABK released additional footage of Modern Warfare 2’s Dark Water mission, in which the said task force must intercept controls for an enemy’s missile launch. So, there’s plenty of upcoming content for fans of the series to enjoy, though there are reports that ABK made some changes to the game just recently.
Modern Warfare 2 is scheduled to launch on October 28 on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. It’s also coming to the Steam digital storefront for the first time in years, following the series’ removal some time ago. Along with the early campaign access, the upcoming game will also arrive with a fully-functional multiplayer experience, and we truly hope it won’t suffer the same hacker attacks that have plagued ABK’s other game, Overwatch 2, which was released just days ago.
