Legend of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Has The Most Boring Pre-Order Bonus
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom pre-order comes with a collectible fork and a spoon.
The pre-order editions of many games in recent years have featured some kind of a bonus, either in terms of in-game content or as a real-world item representing some aspect of the game, like a map or pins and figurines. But not Nintendo, and not The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Besides deciding to skip E3 this year, Nintendo also decided to offer flatware as special items provided with the Japanese pre-order edition of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom—and no, we’re not discussing an art book that was part of a gigantic leak.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom comes with a fork and spoon pre-order bonus in Japan, as reported by GameSpot, which admittedly isn’t something the gamers have expected. Nonetheless, we’re not discussing just any fork and spoon—we’re discussing specially branded The Legend of Zelda flatware with engraved letters and imagery. Both the fork and spoon are included in the pre-order version of the Collector’s Edition of the game, while the Standard Edition ships with just the spoon included. Both editions can be imported into the US if you’re really interested.
The materials used to produce the flatware weren’t officially stated, but they’re most likely made using stainless steel due to the material’s hygienic properties, which makes The Legend of Zelda flatware suitable for kitchen and dining use. It’s worth mentioning that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, a prequel to the upcoming game, included a cooking mini-game that ended up being one of its best features, inspiring players to recreate some of the dishes from the game. Now, we can at least use the proper utensils to try those dishes out.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom pre-orders are now live, and the upcoming game is the first Nintendo game to sell for $70—a price tag that follows PlayStation and Xbox’s adherence to the new pricing standard in the gaming industry. It’s also likely to end up being one of the best and the biggest games of 2023 and most probably one of the best-selling Nintendo Switch games of all time. We already discussed the possibility of this game boosting Nintendo Switch sales further after Nintendo achieved a huge record and became the world’s third best-selling console.
This means that the upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, besides having some pretty cool amiibos that unlock big secrets in the new game, also has the potential to make Nintendo Switch the world’s best-selling console, ending the reign of the iconic PlayStation 2. For context, Nintendo’s Game Boy console was the world’s best-selling console until 2007, when PlayStation 2 sales finally exceeded those of Nintendo’s handheld. Now, nearly 15 years later, Nintendo finally has the opportunity to come back and once again become the number one console maker.
However, the unintentional—and unconfirmed—rumors suggest that the company is currently developing Nintendo Switch 2, which might potentially hinder the sales of the original Switch. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is currently scheduled for a May 12, 2023, release date on Nintendo Switch.
