Epic Games and Fortnite continually bring in some of the best crossover character skins than any other game available. From partnering with Disney to release tons of Marvel and Star Wars content, to even bringing in rival video game characters from games like Street Fighter, the game always finds a way to bring in new and old fans to the game. That will certainly be the case when the newest character drops for the world’s biggest battle royale. Which 1980s icon is that? None other than the monotone half/man half/robot of justice, Robocop.
Robocop is available as a new skin until May 21st, as Epic and MGM have partnered for this limited time to release this epic new crossover 1980s icon. The new Robocop pack will come with the skin of the action icon, the leg of ED-209 which can be used as a pickaxe and back bling, and an emote that players can use to ride their ED-209 in a hilarious fashion. According to the Fortnite website, players can use the ED-209 emote to climb stairs. That is fantastic. The above video only shows a quick moment with the player riding the ED-209, though the mechanical nightmare is a lot smaller than it was in the film. The ED-209 is essentially a murder robot that was sent after Robocop to take him down in the first film.
Robocop became a massive film when it debuted in 1987. It follows the life of Alex Murphy, a cop who exists in a dystopian version of Detroit. A corporation called Omni Consumer Products takes over the police force and uses the ED-209 robot as a demonstration of what can be used to uphold the law. However, the ED-209 kills an executive and all but presents itself as a murderous robot. That is when the Robocop initiative is revealed. Murphy is captured by a rival gang and left for dead. He is then converted into Robocop, a no-nonsense humanoid robot that must uphold the law at any cost. Now players can take on the life of Murphy in this new Fortnite skin.
The fact that Fortnite has brought in such an iconic 1980s figure while hilariously poking fun at the biggest fight this figure has to engage in makes this pack one of the best that we have ever seen. We can’t wait to gun someone down in the game and walk by them on the Lil’ ED-209 emote mount. Clearly, the folks at Epic Games do their research when it comes to releasing crossover materials. This one is one of the best we have seen so far.
Fortnite has the Robocop pack available right now for the in-game store. Players can purchase the skin pack for 1800 V-Bucks, which is down from 2,500 V-Bucks. Basically, anyone who wants to purchase this pack will have to pay just under $20 of real money to get enough of the V-Bucks for this 1980s icon pack. It is on sale for anyone who has been hoarding that in-game money, so it may not cost that much in the grand scheme of things. The Robocop skin pack is available right now.
