Diablo Is Getting A New Class, But There’s A Frustrating Catch
Activision Blizzard’s Diablo is finally getting a new class, the Blood Knight, after nearly a decade since the Crusader class was introduced. Unfortunately, the new class isn’t arriving to the recently-released Diablo 4 game but to the free-to-download pay-to-win mobile game called Diablo Immortal.
Diablo is adding a new Blood Knight but it is only available in Diablo Immortal.
As reported by IGN, the new class is described as a mid-range class that specializes in the polearm weapon type and relies on hybrid attacks based on target proximity.
This means that the new vanquisher of vampires uses either melee or ranged attacks based on how far away the target is from the player. This is actually a nice blend of different character classes Blizzard typically employs in its games.
The new class is scheduled to arrive at Diablo Immortal on July 13, and there’s still no talk about whether or not it will make its way to Diablo 4 as well.
It’s worth noting that this is the first new class since Blizzard added the Crusader class in 2012’s Diablo 3. The class, which also appears in Diablo Immortal, was added to the Diablo 3 game in 2014 as part of the Reaper of Souls expansion pack.
But will Blood Knight make eventually make its way to Diablo 4? Well, Blizzard won’t say anything, at least not yet.
Now the fans of Diablo 4 are wondering which new class their particular entry in the decades-old franchise will get as a DLC—which was confirmed by Blizzard as a post-launch feature. However, the specifics of that particular DLC still remain unknown, but it’s safe to assume that it will likely follow in the footsteps of Diablo 3.
In fact, Blizzard hasn’t confirmed one but two expansions (the old school/vintage gamer’s name for DLCs), but none of them have been named or have their respective release windows announced. Diablo 4 already launched with five different classes, so it’s likely for those two additional expansions to feature one new class each, as most gamers expect that to happen anyway.
But will Blood Knight make eventually make its way to Diablo 4? Well, Blizzard won’t say anything, at least not yet.
For those that aren’t familiar with the infamous Diablo Immortal, the game receiving a new class, it launched just over a year ago on Android, iOS, and Microsoft Windows platforms, though it raised some eyebrows following its release.

The controversies were mostly associated with end-game paywalls which required gamers to invest in microtransactions in order for a chance at progression. Some reports have suggested that gamers have spent upwards of $100,000 to max their character out, which is a pretty high paywall to scale for a typical mobile gamer.
Diablo 4, on the other hand, is Blizzard’s largest release to date and the company’s fastest-selling game ever. This isn’t surprising, considering that the game is an absolute hit among both the critics and the fandom—but just like with Immortal, the cost of its microtransactions is raising eyebrows, with some items costing as much as the whole game.
Immortal is currently available on the aforementioned platforms, while Diablo 4 is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
