Diablo Immortal

It has long been known that Blizzard was working on a new Diablo game. This new game was being put together specifically for mobile. Now a trailer has officially dropped for the new entry, which is called Diablo Immortal. The mechanics seem to be the same that we have all come to know and love. Tons of enemies and dungeon crawling, but the skills in this new entry seem to be a bit more violent and crazy. Another huge element to this announcement is that the mobile version of the game will have cross-play with two unlikely sources. You can see the announcement trailer below:

Diablo Immortal is meant to be played on mobile devices, as it is coming out for Android and iOS. However, it will surprisingly be cross-play between the two companies. This is certainly not normal when it comes to more indie-released titles on mobile phones. Not that Diablo is an indie game but being released for mobile phones makes it far less enticing to the hardcore gaming community. However, an additional cross-play medium will also be available. Apparently, the new game will be released on PC as well, via an open beta format. Mobile and PC players will be able to play with one another. This is an odd choice considering the game was meant to be played on mobile devices. Blizzard might also see that bringing their game to PC will allow for far more exposure.

Diablo Immortal will be a free-to-play MMORPG. It has also announced that the game will be cross-progression. This means that characters that are started on mobile can then be carried onto a PC. Not bad, Blizzard. This will be an online-only game, and it is said to introduce brand new characters and storylines not previously told in the long-standing Diablo mythos. Blizzard has also promised to keep adding content to the game to ensure it feels like a “living, breathing, and constantly evolving experience.” It sure sounds as if Blizzard is going to turn this new franchise adventure into something more than just a mobile game. This is good news considering that many games won’t want to move over to a mobile platform versus playing the game on their consoles and TVs at home. However, this is a new Diablo game, so there is plenty to be excited about.

Diablo Immortal will be released on Android and iOS stores on June 2nd. The PC version of the game will also go into open beta on that same date. Another interesting thing to think about could be that Blizzard may be treating the mobile version of the game as a trial, and they plan to further expand the new entry on PC. This could be why the game is going into an open beta format for PC when it is meant to be played on mobile phones. and tablets. This might not be the case, but it could be. Crazier things have happened. Whatever the case ends up being, this new entry into the world of Diablo will launch in just under two months. We can’t wait to try it out.
