After a troubled launch and more than a year worth of patches, hotfixes, legal battles, and return to various digital storefronts, Cyberpunk 2077 is getting a DLC, or perhaps an entire expansion. Whatever the case may be, Night City is bound to become a bigger place in 2023, as revealed by hundreds of lines of dialogue from the upcoming content, which have appeared online, seemingly outlining the entire plot of the upcoming questline. We just hope CD Project RED delivers a working game this time.

According to IGN, the details surrounding the upcoming and still-untitled Cyberpunk 2077 expansion (or DLC, the terms have become interchangeable) have been leaked online and point toward the inaccessible areas featured and mentioned in the main game. The files containing hundreds of lines of dialogue were reportedly datamined from the recent game patch and appear to suggest that the expansion will follow a new character within the game’s narrative.

The files also seem incomplete since several side missions still use placeholder text, but it seems that the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 expansion will include seven main missions, including fixer quests, world stories, and new world encounters. The new content will take players to the Combat Zone, a currently inaccessible area of the Pacifica region, which was featured in the Cyberpunk 2077 art book. Additionally, the Sports Dome — another currently inaccessible area — is being opened, as it will house one or several main missions from the upcoming expansion.

In terms of dialogue itself, there appears to be very little dialogue from Johnny Silverhand, portrayed and voiced by everyone’s favorite The Matrix star, Keanu Reeves. There are, however, several instances of dialogue in which he’s being “silenced” or “disposed of” by another character, including the aforementioned figure at the center of the narrative. Whether this was due to Reeves being unable to record new dialogue is unknown.

However, the alleged Cyberpunk 2077 DLC does seem to change some of the dialogue in the game’s ending sequence. Though the extent of said changes isn’t substantial, the events of the DLC and its whole story arc are referenced by both the player’s character and Johnny Silverhand. This suggests that John Wick actor isn’t easily silenced, and he’s every bit of a hard-as-nail character in games as he is in movies.

Unfortunately, there are no other details regarding datamined content, and the rumors of a Cyberpunk 2077 DLC should be treated as such — just rumors. Gaming developers tend to deploy upcoming content periodically through patches and scheduled maintenance and fixes, only to unlock them when the time comes and make the new storylines accessible to players. However, as we’ve seen from other releases, it’s not rare to see the content deployed and then abandoned by the gaming developers in light of a better idea.

With that said, CD Projekt RED did state that the company is currently working on sequels for two of its biggest IPs, which includes the mainline sequel to The Witcher series. Cyberpunk 2077 is the only other major IP the studio has, so it’s quite possible that the CD Project was referring to the alleged DLC when being interviewed by their local news outlet.
