Amazon Prime Is Giving Away A Bunch Of Free Games
Amazon Prime will offer 15 free games in April, including Wolfenstein: The New Order.
Much like the Epic Games Store, Amazon Prime is also known for giving away free games each month, and Prime Gaming members received 15 new games for download in April. The first three freebies, which include the amazing Wolfenstein: The New Order, have become available on the platform and can be claimed by anyone with an active Amazon Prime membership.
As reported by GameSpot, all free games can be claimed by Amazon Prime subscribers. There are 15 games in total—we’ll list them out later—accompanied by loot drops for all the popular multiplayer titles, such as Overwatch 2, the still-popular Hearthstone, and Valorant. Just like previous game drops, all the current and upcoming games will be unlocked on a weekly basis throughout April, and the first trio of games is currently available for download.
The first trio includes the 2014’ Wolfenstein: The New Order, which is an action-adventure first-person shooter video game published by Bethesda Softworks for the seventh and eighth generation of consoles. Yes, you can play the game on the current-gen hardware through various subscriptions. The game is set in an alternate history of 1960s Europe in which Nazis have won the Second World War, and the story follows the war veteran William “B.J.” Blazkowicz—a character that players often compare to the Doom Slayer from the popular Doom gaming franchise.
The second game is an oldie-but-goldie; a 1992’s Ninja Commando, a vertically scrolling run-and-gun video game developed and published in 1992 for the Neo Geo Arcade and home system (feeling old yet?) from the same era. The game is also available on a slew of different modern systems, ranging from Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Android, Xbox One, the PC (via Amazon Prime Gaming), and even the good old Nintendo Wii console.
Last but not least is the Art of Fighting 3: The Path of the Warrior, which was originally released in 1996 for the same Neo Geo system. The game is known for being notoriously hard to beat, and it was later ported to the same modern systems as the previously mentioned Ninja Commando. The rest of the Amazon Prime Gaming lineup mostly incurs nostalgia, as most of them stem from the previous millennium or a very early release in the 2000s.
The exception is Grime, a 2021 Metroid-like platform-adventure game that was developed for several different platforms. Wolfenstein: The New Order is by far the most compelling title to obtain from Amazon Prime Gaming, as it’s a fantastic reboot of the series with excellent writing and even better music. If you like going through hordes of enemies spewing hot lead from your double-barreled sword of vengeance (a line actually borrowed from the Doom reboot), then game music composer Mick Gordon is your man.
Once you claim the game from Amazon Prime Gaming, you’ll receive a DRM-free key that you can redeem on GOG and use to play this AAA first-person shooter. Please note that some in-game cinematics isn’t for the faint of heart—you know, typical decapitations, mutilations, and so on.
