Zoe Kravitz’s Catwoman Revealed In Leaked The Batman Footage
In a leaked video, we now have behind-the-scenes footage of Zoe Kravitz's Catwoman in action.
The wait to finally see The Batman feels like it’s taking forever. Many were skeptical when they heard Robert Pattinson was going to take on the character, but the trailer has wowed many of those voices into excitement and curiosity. While the list of things we’d like to know is long, Catwoman is still near the top for many. We saw Zoe Kravitz appear in the official trailer for the movie, but we didn’t learn much about her role. Now, a 43-second clip has spread online. This short video manages to include more shots of Catwoman in action as well as insight on the creation of Selina Kyle from the film’s director (Matt Reeves), Zoe Kravitz, and producer Dylan Clark.
This revealing look at Zoe Kravitz’s Catwoman is actually a leaked clip from the behind-the-scenes documentary Catwoman: The Feline Femme Fatale. Currently, there is little known about this documentary special. The video is coming with new purchases of the original Batman films. At this time, it appears to be exclusive to iTunes purchases of the movie. You can watch the leaked clip below.
The first person you’re seeing in this clip is Matt Reeves, director and co-writer of The Batman. He starts off by telling us that he wanted to see a Batman who wasn’t right at the beginning of his journey, but still in his early days. Which meant that he also wanted to see the rogue characters in their origins. This is particularly true in the case of Catwoman. When we first meet her in The Batman, she won’t be Catwoman yet. Originally known as Selina Kyle, Zoe Kravitz’s character will be making this transition to becoming the anti-hero known as Catwoman during the film.
The next person to speak in the clip is Zoe Kravitz herself. The actress speaks in a voiceover while they show us footage of Selina Kyle riding on a motorcycle through a cemetery. In the next shot, Selina Kyle is in a mausoleum with her head bowed and her helmet off, seeming to say goodbye to someone there. While we’re seeing this, we’re hearing the actress talk about her character and how strong she is. Kravitz says, “Selina can take care of herself. She’s incredibly tough. She really wants to fight for those who don’t have someone else to fight for them. And I think that is where Batman and she really connect.”
Dylan Clark, a producer on The Batman, is the last person to speak. Similar to what Zoe Kravitz said, he describes Selina Kyle as a protector of “the ill-treated, the forgotten”. He said that you never truly know where the antiheroine’s loyalties and allegiance lie. Of course, this is part of what has always made Catwoman interesting. She’s a character Batman himself rarely seems to know what to think of. What will she do next? She is one of those characters who often does the wrong things for the right reasons. Her moral compass is wildly different from Batman’s, so while the pair are often romantically linked, there’s always the feeling they could never make it work in the end.
The clip ends with Catwoman doing a spinning kick, narrowly avoiding Batman’s face.
Previously, the actress has talked about taking on the iconic role and the advice she received to make it her own. But what will that look like? For now, this is as much of a look at Zoe Kravitz’s take on Catwoman as we have. We’ll get the full picture when The Batman releases in theaters March 4, 2022.
