Zendaya has taken on a lot of characters throughout her career, whether the role was more on the serious side, or more comedic. The talented actress has been successful in her roles, such as her performance of Rue in the HBO Max series, Euphoria. Critics and audiences have responded to Zendaya’s passionate performances and she has even received recognition from other stars in the industry. Could another franchise be in the works? Buffy the Vampire Slayer was a popular supernatural drama series that garnered devoted fans for years. Sarah Michelle Geller, who played the iconic role of Buffy, just revealed that she believes Zendaya would be a perfect fit to star as the character if there is ever a remake.
Sarah Michelle Geller recently gave her own opinion about who she believed would be a great fit to portray the role of Buffy. According to Movie Web, in an interview talking about a new book titled, Into Every Generation A Slayer Is Born: How Buffy Staked Our Hearts, Geller discussed a possible reboot of the show and who should play Buffy. “I vote Zendaya,” Geller stated. It seems that no matter the role Zendaya is given, she gives her best, hard-working performance. So, it makes perfect sense why Geller would recommend the role of Buffy to Zendaya. To be able to have a role as Buffy in your acting resume would definitely be impossible to turn down.
Geller gave her favorable opinion of Zendaya playing Buffy when talking about a new book dedicated to Buffy the Vampire Slayer. According to Insider, the book takes a close look at the show in detail. Although the series officially ended way back in 2003, the show still is quite prominent to this day. There have been rumors filtering about for quite some time now that there could be a possible reboot. And in this day and age, remakes seem to be a popular trend. Before we know it, fans might see Buffy come alive on the television screen once again. According to Comic Book, Geller most likely won’t be returning to the show if there is a reboot, but Zendaya has already been offered to take the place of Geller’s shoes.
Zendaya has been a popular actress in recent roles. The actress has starred in films such as Spiderman: No Way Home, and Dune. Her work on Euphoria even scored her an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. If there is a miraculous chance to bring back Buffy to the screen, Zendaya will no doubt lead a great performance. The 25-year-old actress has a lot of experience working on multiple television series, which also makes her an ideal choice for the role.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer was a series that still has a strong, dedicated following to this day. And although Zendaya has a long list of characters under her belt already, why not add a vampire slayer to that list of characters? Of course, a Buffy reboot is still only a rumor at this point, but there definitely will be no harm in digging the series out from the coffin.
