Following the release of Zack Snyder’s Justice League, Warner Bros fell into a world of behind-the-scenes drama that continues to undermine the success of Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Just last week, Warner Bros. released a Justice League 4K trailer for Joss Whedon’s cut of the movie, upsetting many of Snyder’s fans, and announcing the discontinuation of the SnyderVerse. In the latest news, Zack Snyder is apparently no longer welcome at Warner Bros. Here’s what it’s all about.
An article published by Cosmic Book News, states that Warner Bros. doesn’t want Zack Snyder, and puts a stop to any of his work within the studio. In an online discussion regarding the deleted Green Lantern scene, which Warner Bros. put their foot down on, Snyder was praised by one of the fans, stating that the WB doesn’t deserve him. He responded to the comment stating that the studio doesn’t want him, making clear that the SnyderVerse won’t continue, and that he’s no longer involved in any Justice League projects. This seems rather suspicious given the supposedly massive success of the Snyder Cut and many potential tied-in releases.
However, this isn’t fresh news, given the rocky road Zack Snyder had to traverse for his chance to finish Justice League. Warner Bros. simply gave in to the fans’ clamor and invested an additional $70 million into the movie, which proved to be a success. However, they had no intention of following through with any future SnyderVerse releases. Instead, they’re focusing on the multi-dimensional DC characters and arcs that are currently in development. Sounds like something the Marvel Cinematic Universe is currently doing, right? Well, yes, they have been trying to compete for some time now.
However, given that Warner Bros. just cancelled the SnyderVerse, they potentially cancelled any chance at competing with Marvel. Warner Bros. was always a reactionary company rather than a visionary one. After the massive success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Avengers, Warner Bros. decided to cash in on the super-hero hype, and bring their DC universe line-up into the world. However, where Marvel meticulously adhered to their plan, Warner Bros. made a mess of things. Zack Snyder initially planned out and structured the entire DC Extended Universe, starting with Man of Steel. Unfortunately, Warner Bros. didn’t share any of Zack Snyder’s creative vision, and decided to cut much of his movie material, deleting scenes of vital importance that would otherwise build suspense among the audience for upcoming releases. Instead, they added more humor and removed many controversial subjects that would tie in beautifully into the SnyderVerse, as it was originally planned.
Warner Bros.’ failure to develop a proper plan and a movie universe is becoming more apparent by the day. Their ineptitude is additionally revealed by their active downplaying of the success of Zack Snyder’s Justice League, attempting to quiet down the fan base. They’re hoping to stop the #RestoreTheSnyderVerse movement and instill J. J. Abrams’ multiverse version of the DC universe, which only reinforces their perceived inability to formulate their own recipe but copy Marvel’s homework. This is truly sad news for DC and Zack Snyder fans, but apparently, Zack Snyder is no longer tied to Warner Bros, and won’t direct any of the franchise’s sequels or spin-offs. His only comment read “Crossing the line”.
