Based on all the upcoming films in the DCEU, it has appeared that Zack Snyder and DC are headed for a natural split. Quite honestly, it has been a long time coming, and this split should be a shock to no one. Black Adam, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, and Batgirl are the next three on the slate to be released, and all of them seem to be getting away from the Snyderverse. The final deciding factor also happened at San Diego Comic-Con when famed artist and now CCO of DC, Jim Lee, stated that Snyder was not going to be part of any future plans. You can see the video below:

Jim Lee was part of a Q&A session at San Diego Comic-Con, which also involved the mand doing a live drawing. A fan in attendance asked Lee about Zack Snyder being further involved with DC, to which Lee answered honestly. He stated, “There are no plans for additional work on that material.” The material in question is the universe built in Justice League. This response followed Lee’s comments on how Snyder was able to see his “vision realized” when releasing the Snyder Cut of Justice League. However, much like everyone else, Lee seems ready to move on from that style in terms of further DC films and television shows.

Zack Snyder was able to release his final DC film, which was widely more accepted than the original, but that is where the story ends. The man is currently busy with his pseudo-Star Wars film, Rebel Moon. Also, DC has had enough trouble recently for them to get stuck in another loop of the same creativity. There needs to be a final stance on whether Ezra Miller will remain in The Flash, which is the film that is meant to open the multiverse. Michael Keaton’s Batman is set to return in Batgirl, but he will also be an integral part of The Flash. Black Adam and Shazam! Fury of the Gods will also reportedly lean heavily into one another. The events of both films, specifically Black Adam, have been rumored to make way for Man of Steel 2 as well.

Aquaman 2 might be the last film that involves the Zack Snyder DC style, but the rest are meant to stand on their own. DC has been bridled in controversy long enough when it comes to the live-action films in its lineup, so we are excited to see where the company goes in the future. Something different needs to be done, as the DC Universe has been a bit stale lately. A shakeup in what is being offered might propel the company to finally give Marvel some competition.

Zack Snyder had some success in DC, but he is moving on in the same way the comic company is. We can’t wait to see the new entries in the DCAU, and we hope that have more success than the Snyderverse films did. The only thing we wish would be retained is Ben Affleck as Batman. He was fantastic in that role.
