Young Sheldon Releases First Look At Final Season

The photos, which are all credited as stills from the upcoming season premiere, show the fan-favorite ensemble cast uniting for one final time before the show bridges the gap between Sheldon Cooper’s youth and his time as a revered but frustrating theoretical physicist in The Big Bang Theory.

The series, which has recently been named America’s most-watched comedy, is set to begin airing its final batch of episodes on February 15 on CBS.

In the newly released photos, the Cooper family can be seen bowing their heads in grace at the dinner table.

Though Sheldon and his mother Mary are absent from the group photo, series mainstays such as Annie Potts’ Meemaw and her boyfriend Dale can be seen alongside a now grown-up George Jr. and his fiancé Mandy McAllister.

This is a calming sight as the season 6 finale of Young Sheldon featured a tornado tearing apart Meemaw’s East Texas home.

Other photos feature Meemaw with her hand on a stroller, which likely holds George and Mandy’s daughter Cece.

The only photos of the titular Young Sheldon see him outside of the Cooper home, eating a comically oversized pretzel and engaging in conversation during his trip to Germany.

Sheldon is shown receiving a surprise hug from his mother in one set of photos, as he sits beside another character, likely pontificating fun facts about trains, science, or any of his other niche interests.

The plot synopsis for the upcoming episode suggests that Sheldon and Mary will receive the news of the recent tornado while on their international trip.

Young Sheldon actor Iain Armitage is beginning to look more and more like a young Jim Parsons with each passing season, both due to his well-cast resemblance and the makeup and wardrobe department’s combined efforts to bring the notion of a teenage Sheldon Cooper to life on the small screen.

Unfortunately, not all of The Big Bang Theory‘s pre-established plot lines foretell positivity for the Cooper clan, as the series has already established certain relationships that are doomed to fail.

For instance, it has already been established that George Jr. will be married multiple times in his life before he appears in The Big Bang Theory, meaning his romance in Young Sheldon won’t last forever.

Additionally, fans have shared concerns regarding the fate of George Sr. and Mary Cooper, as Sheldon has stated that he caught his father cheating on his mother in a 2016 episode of The Big Bang Theory.

The writers of Young Sheldon have already addressed this supposed infidelity with a plot line that humanizes and exonerates all parties involved, while specifying that they don’t intent to treat adult Sheldon’s comments in the previous series as gospel.

However, some newly released stills show Mary Cooper seemingly interrogating a bartender, perhaps in the interest of learning her husband’s whereabouts.

For now, there’s no way to be sure about what stories will be explored in the show’s final season, though most fans can agree that it would be devastating to see the beloved family break apart in their final appearances.
