Yellowstone Season 5 is finally happening, and now it seems as if the best villain might be making his way back to the series. Though the new season is currently filming, there has not yet been a full reveal of every single character that will be attached to the newest season of everyone’s favorite show. Creator Taylor Sheridan might be keeping a secret hidden from fans in terms of the best villain returning. Which villain is that? None other than Malcolm Beck, portrayed by Neal McDonough. Although most fans have presumed that Beck died from his wounds in season two, things might not be that simple. Especially if we are following the whole “if you don’t see a body” saying.

Neal McDonough had recently commented on his character being alive. According to the actor, “Did I die? Did I? I’m not so sure about that. We have talked about the fact we didn’t actually see Malcolm Beck’s eyes close. There is always that possibility. My brother won’t be coming back for sure, but there is a possibility.” His brother is in reference to Teal Beck, who had been killed by Kayce Dutton. Clearly, there is no way for him to come back, but Malcolm could be a different story. For a reference point, Game of Thrones once featured the “death” of The Hound. He had been gravely injured by Brianne of Tarth, but he was never shown to be dead. His death had been implied, but he returned some two seasons later. That same trick could be happening with Malcolm on Yellowstone. The character might have had to heal from injuries and rebuild his own secret empire to take on the Duttons again.

Neal McDonough is a celebrated actor that has appeared in shows like Band of Brothers, Justified, Arrow, and Traveler. He has also been in many good films like Minority Report, Flags of Our Fathers, and Captain America: The First Avenger. Every time he has been cast in something, he seems to always find a way to wow audiences and be instantly lauded for his performance. That was certainly the case during his time in Yellowstone. Should Sheridan bring the man back, it would certainly be welcome by the legions of fans the series has. Throwing in a vile villain like Malcolm Beck would certainly add even more drama to the events that happened at the end of season four.

Yellowstone has become a global phenomenon, and there are now three spinoffs dedicated to the expansion of the Dutton family story. People have been stuck on dissecting the Dutton family’s rise and fall in detail. Although the series has had rotating villains through most of the main story, this might be the time to bring back Malcolm Beck to throw a wrench into the plans that the Duttons have. Kayce also had a vision that showed him “the end of us.” Sheridan might throw out a curveball and have the Dutton family get destroyed under the weight of their own ambition.

That would certainly be a great way to end a series. Most of the time television shows have a hard time ending things on a note that is satisfactory to fans. Though the Dutton family is beloved by many fans, they are also cutthroat in their aims on the series. Having them crumble and all die because of their actions would be perfect. This is just speculation, and we are not saying that season five is the end but ending the family by means of a more cutthroat villain like Malcolm Beck would be poetic justice for Yellowstone.
