Yellowstone’s Stars Just Abruptly Dropped Out Of A Huge Event And Fans Are Worried
The cast of Yellowstone abruptly canceled an appearance at L.A.'s Paleyfest at the last minute.
Conventions are when fans get the opportunity to meet their favorite actors or characters from their favorite properties and when the stars can press the flesh with their adoring fans. Sometimes, however, scheduling conflicts cause the stars to unfortunately miss the events, and that is what the fans of Yellowstone experienced at Los Angeles’ PaleyFest this weekend. According to Deadline, the room was surprised to find out during the introduction that the main headliners that included Kevin Costner, Cole Hauser, Kelly Reilly, and creator Taylor Sheridan wouldn’t be attending the show.
According to the report, the lineup was to include the above stars, along with some of the other big names in the series, including Luke Grimes, Kelsey Asbille, Wes Bentley, Gil Birmingham, and Jacki Weaver. After screening the seventh episode of the fifth season, it was announced that the stars weren’t able to make it due to scheduling conflicts. The new lineup of Yellowstone consisted of Mo Brings Plenty (Mo), Dawn Olivieri (Sarah Atwood), Josh Lucas (younger John Dutton), and Wendy Moniz (Lynelle Perry).
The announcement was met with audible gasps and comments from the crowd asking where everyone was, giving them the what-for for not updating the fans beforehand. The website earlier in the day still showed that Kevin Costner and the rest of the crowd would be attending. The letdown is one that comes at a time when fans of Yellowstone are getting used to being let down by the studio.
It has recently been rumored that Tayor Sheridan and Paramount would be taking the series in a new direction without its star, Kevin Costner, who allegedly feels filming the series was becoming too arduous and doesn’t want to spend that much time on set. The announcement further stated they planned to bring Matthew McConaughey into the fold as the new star of Yellowstone. That would definitely be the kind of star power the series is used to having, but Yellowstone without its lead wouldn’t feel like Yellowstone.
The series is accustomed to having massive star power behind their installments, where Western film veteran Kevin Costner (Dances with Wolves, Silverado, Wyatt Earp) anchored the original, the spinoffs did the same to bring fan interest. The first spinoff, 1883, brought on the talent of another Western veteran in Sam Elliott (The Ranch and The Sackett films) to go along with country music singers Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. The second spinoff, 1923, deviated from Western stars by bringing on film legends Harrison Ford (Star Wars and Indiana Jones) and Helen Mirren (Shazam! Fury of the Gods and R.E.D.).
Yellowstone has become a cultural phenomenon and revived audiences’ interest in the Western genre; now that they are deep into Season 5, there are definitely some changes coming. While the fans were hoping to get a glimpse of their favorite Dutton Family members at PaleyFest, scheduling conflicts kept them away from what could have been their final chance to see the likes of Costner and Hauser in person. One thing is certain, double check the websites and lineups before buying tickets in the future.
