Yellowstone Star Struggles With Their Character’s Issues Off Set
Yellowstone star Wes Bentley has admitted that Jamie Dutton's sadness is hard to break away from in his personal life.
Wes Bentley is one of the most popular actors in Yellowstone, as he portrays Jamie Dutton. Bentley has been very open about his struggles with sadness relating to his drug addiction past and has compared that sadness to having to portray Jamie in the series. According to Bentley, “I’ve always dealt with my sadness with things like comedy, or humor, or drugs at one point, or trying to just ignore it and finding another way out of it… but you can’t do that when you’re trying to portray someone’s sadness.”
Wes Bentley revealed his struggle with the character via the New York Times, where he went into more detail about having to portray a character that is so deep in their emotions. He claims to leave the baggage of his characters on set, but his portraying Jamie in Yellowstone has a profound effect on him when the cameras stop rolling. Bentley added, “Jamie’s sadness permeates my life, even though I’m not sad.”
It would be kind of hard to forget about the sadness of a character, especially with what that character has done in Yellowstone. Jamie killed his biological father in order to protect the Dutton family, who is now using that information to stand opposite him. He is an outcast in a world where he is attempting to portray the most loyalty to a family that seems to want to make sure he is not around.
Though this might sound a bit hard, Wes Bentley’s past struggles seem to be a bit mirrored in Jamie, and it is allowing him to truly deliver a much more beautiful performance in Yellowstone. Thankfully, his addictive past is behind him, but the sadness that got him there might be what he draws on to perform at such a high level as Jamie. The entire cast of Yellowstone has been amazing thus far, which is why it is the most popular television show currently.
Even the spinoff shows have put together amazing casts that include Harrison Ford, Helen Mirren, Sam Elliot, and many more. Yellowstone has put together three hit shows that have all brought drama to a new height, which is continuing to build into an even bigger universe. We are not sure what is going to happen to Wes Bentley’s Jamie this season, but we would imagine that the man is going to be dealing with some huge things based on the ending of the fourth season. Yellowstone Season 5 will contain 14 episodes, with the first eight already being wrapped up on January 1st.
Yellowstone Season 5 will be returning at some point in later 2023, which we can assume is going to be in the fall months of the year. The second part of the fifth season will contain six episodes, and we would imagine the drama is going to be increased tenfold for the entirety of the Dutton family.
For now, everyone can continue watching 1923, which is streaming on Paramount+. The Yellowstone spinoff series follows another group of Duttons that deal with Western expansion, prohibition, and the Great Depression. The fifth episode of the series will be premiering on the streaming app this Sunday, January 8th. The series stars Harrison Ford, Helen Mirren, Jerome Flynn, James Badge Dale, Aminah Nieves, and many more.
