Yellowstone Star Ditching Acting For Singing As Show Ends
Like many of the stars who appear in Yellowstone, Luke Grimes is looking to the future as the series will call it quits following the upcoming second half of the fifth season. While Kevin Costner is diving headfirst into another Western-centered project, Ohio native Grimes is going full speed ahead into a music career. According to an insider close to the Yellowstone star, Grimes isn’t pursuing any other acting gigs at this time.
Instead, he’ll fully pursue a career in country western music, something he’s always poured his energy into even after he started snagging roles on TV and film projects. Having appeared in productions including American Sniper and the Fifty Shades franchise, Luke Grimes recently released his EP titled “Pain Pills or Pews” in October 2023. Pulling back the curtain on his upbringing, the album’s name and many of the songs on it, pay homage to his early life as a Pastor’s child growing up in Dayton, Ohio, one of the many cities torn apart by the opioid epidemic.
The change for Luke Grimes from sets to stage is an easy one for him to imagine as he says that he’s “always” played in bands, starting with the church band when he was just a kid. But, after studying at New York City’s prestigious American Academy of the Dramatic Arts, Grimes packed up his things and moved across the country to Los Angeles. Once there, he fully immersed himself in his acting career but with the end of Yellowstone just around the corner, he’s ready for a change of pace.
According to Life & Style, Luke Grimes won’t be pursuing any more acting jobs at this time, and instead will be concentrating all his efforts on his music career. Along with dropping his EP, Grimes has his eyes set on touring the world and sharing his musical talents with a growing fan base. The insider said that he’ll achieve “a lifelong dream” when he takes the stage at the annual Stagecoach Festival in Indio, California – think of it as country’s response to Coachella.
While no other tour dates have been announced, Luke Grimes will appear at Stagecoach alongside a lineup of other fan-favorite performers from the genre, including Miranda Lambert, Morgan Wallen, Eric Church, Elle King, Jelly Roll, Dwight Yoakam, The Beach Boys, and more. Not too shabby for someone just switching to a career of live music.
As for Luke Grimes and the rest of the gang on Yellowstone, it’s now been over a year since the first half of the fifth season came to an end. Since then, audiences have been eager to uncover more about the next batch of episodes but were sad to learn that the series would bow out following the second half of Season 5. It will also be another year until we get the final chapter, as part two of Season 5 is set for release in November 2024.
The last season is sure to be an exciting one for not only the fate of Luke Grimes’s Kayce Dutton but also the other characters who are hoping to rise to the top. Although there are several spin-offs coming from the world of Yellowstone, it seems unlikely that Kayce Dutton’s story will fold over into any of those, as Grimes seems content with pursuing his musical aspirations.
