Fan-Favorite Yellowstone Star Is Totally Unrecognizable Now, See The Photo
Yellowstone's Cole Hauser posts a picture to Instagram in which he looks dramatically different than he does in the show.
The hit Yellowstone wouldn’t be the same without Cole Hauser as the Dutton patriarch‘s righthand man, Rip Wheeler. A dangerous man who adds to the show’s machismo and sex appeal, Hauser shocked fans with his most recent Instagram post in which he looked completely different from the man we’re used to seeing on the screen. You can see how different he looks in the post below..
That’s right — that’s Cole Hauser in the back wearing the navy blue top and wearing sunglasses. If you were religiously devoted to Yellowstone and literally tripped over Cole Hauser as he appears in the photo above, you likely wouldn’t recognize him. Not only is he, obviously, not dressed like a modern day cowboy, but his beard appears to be a much lighter color.
Just from that photo above, you might think he more closely resembles the controversial stand-up comedian Louis C.K. than he does Rip Wheeler.
Going through the rest of the star’s photos seems to confirm that when the Yellowstone star has significant downtime from the show, his facial hair goes from dark brown to light red. There are other non-Yellowstone photos in which Cole Hauser has Rip Wheeler-correct color, but plenty of others — like the ones below — show him with the lighter face decoration.
One could argue that the difference between the actor’s look in Yellowstone and his real life appearance could help stop Cole Hauser from being typecast as Rip Wheeler. If fans are shocked just by seeing a different color beard on the guy, it might be easier for Hauser to avoid being cast in same or similar roles over and over again. If Wayne Knight — aka Newman of Seinfeld fame — looked significantly different after that series ended, he might have found it easier to get film acting work than he did.
So far, Hauser isn’t doing half bad as far as securing roles outside of Taylor Sheridan’s signature franchise. Last year he starred in the noir thriller The Minute You Wake Up Dead alongside Jaimie Alexander and Morgan Freeman, as well as the action thriller Panama with Mel Gibson. Coming up next for him, as reported by Deadline, is the western Dead Man’s Hand in which he’ll star with Jack Kilmer and Stephen Dorff, as well as the crime thriller Muti which will find Hauser reunited with Morgan Freeman.
It’s probably good that Yellowstone‘s Cole Hauser keeps looking for other work because the future of the series has come into question a number of times. While it seems just as popular as ever, Kevin Costner has expressed doubt about his desire to return for a Season 6. Yellowstone went on its mid-season break in January, and is schedule to return to the second half of Season 5 in the summer.
