Wolverine’s Biggest Nemesis Is Being Resurrected For Deadpool 3?
While production may have halted on Deadpool 3 (and a handful of other Marvel titles), the rumor mill is still churning just as strongly as ever. The latest news comes from the Twitter account X-Men Updates which claims that Wolverine’s longtime nemesis, Sabretooth will make an appearance in Deadpool 3. Included in the breaking announcement, that speaks of Liev Schreiber’s possible return, is an image of Schreiber as the long-nailed mutant.
It’s been over a decade since Liev Schrieber stepped into the role of Wolverine’s arch-nemesis so a lot of time has passed on his story with a lot of plot that could be filled.
First appearing in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, audiences got to know Wolverine’s villainous half-brother Sabretooth aka Victor Creed. Sharing much with his sibling, Sabretooth is the complete dark side of Wolverine, giving the selfless hero a run for his money.
Should Liev Schreiber reprise his role for Deadpool 3, viewers would be in for the family reunion of the lifetime with Wolverine and Sabretooth duking it out while Ryan Reynolds’ titular hero makes wisecracks from the sidelines.
It’s been over a decade since Liev Schrieber stepped into the role of Wolverine’s arch-nemesis so a lot of time has passed on his story with a lot of plot that could be filled. For a refresher, Wolverine aka James Howlett and his brother, Victor Creed, served in the military for decades, bonded by their familial ties until Wolverine realized that Sabretooth was a true monster.
While Deadpool 3 could see Sabretooth and Deadpool come face-to-face, it wouldn’t be the first time as they were both members of Team X. Although, Wade Wilson’s appearance in X-Men Origins: Wolverine was a shaky one at best.
It’s been five years since Hugh Jackman last picked up the claws of Wolverine in James Mangold’s critically acclaimed action flick, Logan. While it seemed that was the final time we’d see The Greatest Showman star appear as the X-Men superhero, it would turn out that this wasn’t the case. Much to the delight of fans everywhere, Jackman signed on for Deadpool 3 which will see his rival with Ryan Reynolds reignited.

Directed by Shawn Levy, the feature will be the next title in the now-franchise with Hugh Jackman not the only long-lost Marvel member set to reprise a role. Deadpool 3 also promises the return of Jennifer Garner’s Elektra, who was last seen in the early 2000s films Daredevil and Elektra.
Should this film give audiences another Sabretooth showdown, the gang will have their hands full as The Crown’s Emma Corrin is also set to play a villain. Also included in the lineup of stars is Morena Baccarin, Brianna Hildebrand, Leslie Uggams, Rob Delaney, Stefan Kapičić, Karan Soni, Matthew Macfadyen, and Shioli Kutsuna.
Deadpool 3’s Release Date
As of right now, audiences can expect to see Wolverine and Deadpool team up on May 3, 2024. However, with the ongoing writers’ and actors’ strikes, production has been put on hold, meaning it may be a while before the pair are seen on screen. When it comes to plot details, those too have been hush hush but with enemies lurking around every corner, Deadpool 3 will likely see the superpowered duo put their differences aside for the greater good.
