Wolf Man Remake Nabs The Best Crime Thriller Actress In Years
Variety has reported that Julia Garner will appear in the upcoming The Wolf Man remake film currently being produced by Universal Pictures and Blumhouse. Garner previously starred in the Netflix original crime thriller Ozark, making her a hot commodity for the upcoming film.
Julia Garner Coming To The Wolf Man
The Wolf Man movie is expected to exist within the shared cinematic universe with Universal’s The Mummy and The Invisible Man, meaning the role could be the basis of a multi-picture deal.
Ozark aired its final batch of episodes in April of 2022, leaving many fans to wonder what the next big move would be for Julia Garner and the other leading cast members.
In the years since the series concluded, Garner has appeared in a short advertisement for Nespresso, as well as the 2023 Kitty Green-helmed Royal Hotel.
According to IMDb, Garner is expected to appear in an upcoming horror thriller titled Apartment 7A produced by John Krasinski, as well as the new Wolf Man remake.
Christopher Abbott Also Confirmed
The Universal film will see Julia Garner reunited with her Martha, Marcy, May, Marlene co-star Christopher Abbott.
Though the pair showed great promise working alongside one another back in 2011, The Wolf Man marks the first time the actors will appear in the same project in over a decade.
Currently, the pair are the only two actors publicly confirmed for the film, meaning news of additional high-profile cast members could hit the net any day.
Ruth Langmore In Ozark
Before Julia Garner signed on to appear in The Wolf Man, the New York native amassed three Emmy wins for her magnificent performance in Ozark as Ruth Langmore, the rough-around-the-edges antagonist responsible for killing and blackmailing her foes in the criminal underworld.
Anna Delvey In Inventing Anna
She also inspired a host of Emmy nominations for her portrayal of Anna Delvey in the 2022 limited series Inventing Anna.
The series, which was brought to life by Grey’s Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes, tells the story of the real life con artist Anna Sorokin, who constructed a false identity in order to blend into the world of high-class New York socialites.
Playing Madonna?
Julia Garner was previously a front-runner for the lead role in a now-shelved Madonna biopic, which was also slated to be produced and distributed by Universal.
Before signing on for the Wolf Man film, Garner seemingly jumped through hoops to bring the pop superstar to life on the big screen, prompting Madonna to bring her out on stage as a special guest during her recent tour.
The singer has promised the studio and the public that the film will eventually go into production, though her ongoing greatest hits tour has halted the project indefinitely.
More The Wolf Man Details Coming
Currently, there are no details regarding Julia Garner’s role in The Wolf Man as the film prepares to go into active production in the coming months. The movie is expected to release on October 25, with The Invisible Man’s Leigh Whannell signed on to direct.
This marks Whannell’s second entry into the Universal Monsterverse and the fourth collaboration between the director and Blumhouse Pictures.
