Crunchyroll New Magical Fan-Favorite Witch Anime Set For 2025
With animation technology and teams improving every year, visually stunning anime are coming out more and more often. This has made it so that some manga, previously thought to be unadaptable, can now be turned into an anime without losing their amazing detail and unique line work. One such anime is set to come out in 2025, known as Witch Hat Atelier.
Witch Hat Atelier is based on a manga series by Kamome Shirahama. The story follows a girl named Coco, who is a dressmaker’s daughter. Coco has aspirations of becoming a witch, despite not having any magical abilities.
Coco ends up meeting a mysterious wizard who gives her a spell book. Suddenly, she has magic, which unfortunately leads to problems with her mother and her house as she struggles to learn how to control her powers. A powerful magic user, Qifrey, takes Coco in and helps her learn to control her powers while also investigating who could have given her the book.
The exact release date for Witch Hat Atelier hasn’t been announced yet, but it will come out sometime in 2025.
The With Hat Atelier manga is rather popular, with over 5.5 million copies sold as of July 2024, and 13 volumes. The pages are all full of very detailed linework, an incredible universe, and all sorts of fantasy elements, which is why the anime adaptation has been so highly anticipated.
Though the anime adaptation was first announced in 2023, not much was said about the adaptation until now. However, based on the information provided, the wait will be well worth it.
While there were some worries that the animation for Witch Hat Atelier wouldn’t live up to the intricate details of the manga, the trailer seemed promising when it aired at the Anime Expo.

During the trailer for Witch Hat Atelier, fans can see a variety of scenes, such as Qifrey and Coco escaping a burning building, and the moment Coco meets the mysterious wizard. During these scenes, the watercolor-style animation is highlighted, and it seems to show a similar level of detail mixed with stunning colors and smooth animation.
Bug Films is the animation studio in charge of the production, with Ayumu Watanabe (Summer Time Rendering) as the director. Another interesting name attached to Witch Hat Atelier is Yuka Kitamura, who will be the composer. She is best known for her work on games like the Dark Souls series, Bloodborne, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and Elden Ring.
No information has been released yet on the voice actors for the series.

Unfortunately, the fact that Bug Films is in charge of the animation has some people worried. While the show looks beautiful from the trailer, another series this team directed is Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead. It was another fairly beautiful show, but it faced a lot of issues that led to the quality dropping near the end and the weekly episodes regularly being delayed.
While it’s not the first time this has happened with a series, many people worry that the small studio is taking on more than it can handle with Witch Hat Atelier.
