Fans of HBO Max and its content, along with its parent company, Warner Bros., have had a summer of rollercoaster feelings from the cancelation of a myriad of shows and movies, namely the controversy surrounding Batgirl and the success of Black Adam and Euphoria. One of the surprising success stories for HBO Max is the comedy-drama series, The White Lotus, which premiered last summer to critical acclaim and was greenlit for a season 2. Fans of the show got great news as Deadline reports Mike White hints at the possibility of seeing The White Lotus Season 3 in the near future.

Season 2 of The White Lotus is new enough that creator Mike White had to address the possibility of a Season 3 on the red carpet of the premiere, but that didn’t stop him from discussing his ideas for what he would like to see. While White acknowledged it was too early to really dive into the possibility, he did reveal that if it were to happen, he would like to take the series to the Asian Continent, even giving an example of Japan as a possible location. Another detail he provided was that he would love to be reunited with his friend and the only actor to appear in both seasons of the anthology series, Jennifer Coolidge.

The White Lotus Season 1 was initially intended to be an anthology series centered around The White Lotus resort located in Hawaii, following a group of vacationers who, while they seem to be there simply to relax and rejuvenate, seem to all be running from something in life. The debut season starred Steve Zahn and Connie Britton as a married couple where he is facing a health crisis, and she is a high-level exec for a search engine company.

Their daughter is played by HBO veteran Sydney Sweeney, and there are appearances by Alexandria Daddario as a clickbait journalist, Molly Shannon as an overbearing mother, and Jennifer Coolidge as a troubled woman looking for peace (who White wants back for The White Lotus Season 3).

When the anthology series won ten awards at the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series, Outstanding Writing and Outstanding Directing for White, Outstanding Supporting Actress for Jennifer Coolidge, and Outstanding Supporting Actor for Murray Bartlett, it isn’t surprising that HBO called White back for Season 2.

White then took the series to Sicily, where he brought back Coolidge and added legendary veterans like F. Murray Abraham (Scarface and Moon Knight), Michael Imperioli (Sopranos and Goodfellas), and Tom Hollander (Pirates of the Caribbean), along with young stars Theo James (Divergent) and Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation).

It may be early to start asking about The White Lotus Season 3, but it is never too early, and Mike White seems to agree. Fans certainly have a lot to look forward to, as the second season has a stellar cast and looks to be reaching for the same reverence as the first. If it does, there is no reason why Japan isn’t in the travel plans for White and Jennifer Coolidge.
