Whoopi Goldberg Wants To Host Wheel Of Fortune
Speaking about Pat Sajak's Wheel of Fortune retirement on The View, Whoopi Goldberg expressed her desire to take on hosting duties for the game show.
Whoopi Goldberg says she would love to be the new host of Wheel of Fortune. The revelation comes after long-serving host Pat Sajak announced his plans to retire from the show after more than 40 years. The hosting gig came up during a panel segment on The View when Ken Jennings, known for his role as the host of Jeopardy!, was asked about his reaction to Sajak’s news.
When The View co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin asked Jennings who he thinks should take over, Whoopi Goldberg interjected with a resounding, “I want that job. I think it would be lots of fun.” Joy Behar fueled the playful banter by suggesting that she and Sara Haines could take turns emulating Vanna White’s role by gracefully walking back and forth and pointing to the letters.
According to Deadline, Whoopi Goldberg is no stranger to the realm of game shows. The actress previously served as a producer on the 1998 revival of Hollywood Squares, where she became the renowned center square. While nothing has been confirmed, Goldberg’s experience and charisma make her a compelling candidate for the role of Wheel of Fortune’s host.
Pat Sajak formally announced his retirement as the beloved host of Wheel of Fortune on June 12. His tenure on the game show will officially end after the completion of season 41. Expressing his gratitude for the incredible journey, Sajak hinted at forthcoming announcements, expecting the anticipated news to keep clickbait sites busy.
Meanwhile, Whoopi Goldberg recently made headlines after discovering that her favorite video game, Diablo IV, was no longer supported by the Apple macOS. The Sister Act actress took to Instagram to publicly request that developer Blizzard Entertainment port the new hack-and-slash game to her preferred gaming system.
While acknowledging that there are more significant matters in the world, the Oscar-winner expressed her desire to indulge in a little “kvetching” about her beloved game series. Whoopi Goldberg noted that she had purchased Diablo IV under the mistaken assumption that it would be compatible with Apple computers, similar to previous installments in the franchise.
“This is what I’m asking you, Blizzard Entertainment,” Whoopi Goldberg said. “This is Whoopi. You know how much I love Diablo. I would like y’all to let those of us who use our Apples to play. Allow us to play on the Apple. Take Diablo IV and let us do it and have a great time.” The highly anticipated game made its debut on June 5, following several open beta periods in March.
Diablo IV was released for Windows, along with the latest and previous-generation PlayStation and Xbox consoles. However, Blizzard Entertainment has yet to announce availability for macOS. Despite Whoopi Goldberg’s pleas, the official stance on the game’s compatibility with Apple devices remains undisclosed, leaving fans of the franchise using Mac computers eagerly awaiting any updates.
On-screen, Whoopi Goldberg is set to appear in Inappropriate Behavior. Billed as a comedy-drama, the film is directed by Tony Goldwyn from a script by Tony Spiridakis. The story follows Max Brandel, who destroys his marriage and successful career to become a stand-up comedian. The movie stars Bobby Cannavale as Max Brandel alongside Robert De Niro as Stan.
Rose Byrne appears as Jenna, with William Fitzgerald as Ezra. Vera Farmiga, Rainn Wilson, and Whoopi Goldberg will also be featured. However, their roles remain undisclosed. Filming began in Westwood, New Jersey, and Jersey City in September 2022. No release has been announced yet.
