Wesley Snipes first brought the character of Blade to life in the 1998 Marvel Comics film based on the eponymous vampire hunter. Since the MCU successfully launched dozens of franchise outings for a number of characters from Marvel canon, fans have been begging to see Blade grace the big screen again, to little avail.

Now, according to a reliable Hollywood insider, Wesley Snipes has signed on to do something with Marvel, prompting fans to assume a Blade return is on the horizon.

Trying To Play Blade Again For Years

Marvel has been trying to relaunch the Blade franchise for years now, casting Mahershala Ali in the title role, and signing Lovecraft Country producer Yann Demange to direct.

Unfortunately, the film has fallen victim to a number of behind-the-scenes production nightmares, including the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes of 2023, which halted production on nearly every active project in Hollywood.

Wesley Snipes Returning As Blade

While Wesley Snipes has been open about his desire to reprise the Blade character, his absence from the cast of the forthcoming film has led fans to assume that he won’t be returning.

That is, until notable leaker Daniel Richtman reported, via his Patreon, that Wesley Snipes will reprise his role as Blade in an upcoming Marvel installment, possibly as a multiverse variant of Ali’s iteration of the character. While little is known about Snipes’ involvement with Marvel at this time, Richtman has amassed a large following due to his frequently correct scoops, leading fans to trust in this report.

Coming Back In Deadpool & Wolverine?

Deadpool & Wolverine is a likely candidate to serve as Wesley Snipes’ long-awaited Blade return, as the film is expected to be a home to many alternate timeline variants and surprise Marvel guests. Currently, there’s still no word on how the third Deadpool feature will factor into the larger narrative of the MCU, if at all, so it could be the perfect place to drop a consequence-free cameo before unleashing the new iteration of Blade onto audiences.

Or Maybe Coming Back In Avengers

Alternatively, Wesley Snipes’ Blade could pop up in one of the upcoming Avengers movies such as 2026’s Avengers: The Kang Dynasty or 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars. While very little is currently known about the plot of these forthcoming outings, the Avengers are expected to assemble a massive ensemble of heroes from across the multiverse in order to defeat Kang The Conqueror, who holds an untold amount of power over the multiverse. These two films are expected to conclude the multiverse arc of the MCU, meaning leaving a perfect opportunity to for Marvel to bring in numerous cameos before it’s too late.

Using The Multiverse

The MCU has already utilized numerous examples of characters crossing over with their multiversal counterparts, such as Tom Holland’s Peter Parker, who partnered with the Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield iterations of Spider-Man during the events of 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home. The best use of Wesley Snipes’ Blade could see him appearing in the Mahershala Ali-led film, as a means of officially passing the torch.

Fan Would Love A Wesley Snipes Return

No matter where he shows up, Wesley Snipes is guaranteed to be showered with love if he does in fact make a return to the Blade character.

Though Snipes’ inclusion in the history of Marvel films is often overlooked, the Blade trilogy films are largely responsible for revitalizing the concept of comic book adaptations on the big screen.
