Wednesday Season 2 Casts One Of The Best Actresses Today
With its mixture of teen drama, gothic style, and dark comedy, Wednesday Season 1 was an absolute hit. To ramp up for Wednesday Season 2, the Netflix series has cast one of the best actresses today. Thandiwe Newton, most notably known for her role as Maeve Millay in Westworld, will star in the second season of the Tim Burton-produced series.
Thandiwe Newton Joins Wednesday
Thandiwe Newton’s exact role in Wednesday Season 2 is still being kept under wraps. While it’s unclear whether she’ll be playing friend or foe in the series, the actress joins a cast of new and legendary actors from the first season, many of whom will be reprising their roles for Season 2. Steve Buscemi, another big name, will also be joining the Wednesday cast for the show’s sophomore season.
The Returning Cast
Thandiwe Newton and Steve Buscemi will appear alongside many of the original actors in Wednesday Season 2, including Jenna Ortega, who plays the titular character. While it’s still unclear exactly who will return for the second season, Netflix extended options to all of the main cast of the series. We’ll likely see the return of Emma Myers as Wednesday’s bubbly roommate and werewolf, Enid, and likely see cameos from Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzman as Wednesday’s iconic parents, Morticia and Gomez Addams.
So far, few details have been released about Wednesday Season 2. Apart from knowing Thandiwe Newton will appear in the cast, there’s no way to know what sort of twists and turns the characters are in for this time around.
Another Mystery For Wednesday
Season 1 saw Wednesday solving a mystery of violent murders while also connecting with her witchy ancestors and fending off an attempt to destroy Nevermore Academy. Wednesday Season 2 will likely follow the mystery theme with a new problem for Wednesday and her friends to solve. It will be interesting to see how it plays out and how Thandiwe Newton fits into the picture.
Newton’s Stellar Television Career
Thandiwe Newton has showcased her versatility across various TV roles throughout her career, with one of her most prominent being her lead role in the HBO series Westworld. Her stellar performance earned her three Emmy nominations for best supporting actress in a drama, with a well-deserved win in 2018. Before Wednesday Season 2, Newton has left her mark in television with appearances in The Slap, Big Mouth, Human Resources, and Rogue.
Joins Another Major New Addition
Wednesday Season 1 originally released on Netflix in November 2022, swiftly capturing audiences’ attention and becoming a sensational hit. Regarded as one of Netflix’s top-performing shows, it garnered 12 Emmy nominations and secured four wins. We can’t wait to see what the series can accomplish with more heavy hitters like Thandiwe Newton and Steve Buscemi added to the ranks.
Wednesday Season 2 Is Filming Soon
It will be about two years since the original premiere when Wednesday Season 2 hits the screens. The series faced setbacks due to the industry-wide disruptions caused by the writers’ and actors’ strikes in 2023, halting production across Hollywood. Despite the delay, Thandiwe Newton, Steve Buscemi, Jenna Ortega, and the rest of the cast are heading to Ireland to begin filming at the end of April.
