Wednesday Season 2 Gets The Best Addams Family Actor
Wednesday has so far been one of the best series Netflix has created, beloved by adults and older kids alike, especially those of us who love the Addams family in all of its iterations. Fans are delighted to hear that Christopher Lloyd will join the cast of Wednesday Season 2.
The Surprise Success Of Wednesday
Wednesday, released in 2022 on Netflix, surprised and delighted fans across interests. For those who love creepy content, the show hit the mark perfectly. For those who are die-hard Addams family acolytes, this brought all of our beloved characters back. For those who are hardcore girl power proponents, the show wins again and again. Wednesday’s second season should be no different.
Returning Cast
Last week, it was announced that Wednesday Season 2 will see the exit of Percy Hynes White, Jamie McShane, and Naomi J Ogawa. It will be interesting to see how the series deals with their absence, as these stars were in perfect health when the first season ended. Though Jamie McShane is expected to return as his character, Sheriff Donovan Galpin, the role will be much smaller than it was in Season 1. Ogawa, however, saw her role get increasingly smaller, and White has been dealing for the last year with sexual assault allegations, which he has vehemently denied.
Christopher Lloyd Was The Perfect Uncle Fester
Thus, it was good news indeed to hear that Christopher Lloyd will join Wednesday Season 2 as we say goodbye to some Season 1 cast members. For those unaware, Lloyd played a fabulous Uncle Fester in the Addams Family live-action films The Addams Family (1991) and Addams Family Values (1993). His part in both films was integral to the storylines of the family, and he came to embody Uncle Fester for those of us who loved those movies.
Lloyd Is Playing Someone Else
Sadly, we already have an Uncle Fester in the Wednesday series, played quite spectacularly by Fred Armisen. So Lloyd will have to play a different character in Wednesday Season 2. Fortunately, we’ve already seen the showrunners and writers pull this kind of switch off quite well as we met Christina Ricci in Wednesday Season 1, who was the original Wednesday from The Addams Family films, Ricci got a chance to enter the series scene as a mentor of sorts to Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday.
Christopher Lloyd Makes Everything Better
This success can only bode well for Lloyd’s future role in Wednesday Season 2. Netflix and the cast, as well as Lloyd, remain tight-lipped about who he’ll play, but it can only be great, with how well the show has done so far. And Lloyd is great in virtually every film he’s been in. From Back to the Future to A Million Ways to Die in the West, Lloyd never disappoints.
For those of us who grew up watching Christopher Lloyd in films, watching him in Wednesday Season 2 will be a treat. Most of us first met him as Doc Brown in Back to the Future and its sequels. The part was supposed to be a minor one, supporting Michael J. Fox’s Marty McFly. But think about it: all of the most memorable lines, ones we still employ today, come from Doc. “Where we’re going, we don’t need roads.”
