Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday Cancels Fan-Favorite Character, Here’s The Allegations
The Emmy-nominated TV show Wednesday will be returning for a second season, but one of its fan-favorite characters will not be. Percy Hynes White, who played Xavier Thorpe alongside Jenna Ortega at Nevermore Academy has been written out of the next season, according to news from the Daily Mail. There are allegations that the 21-year-old actor sexually assaulted women at a house party, which has caused Netflix to pull the plug on his character.
Percy Hynes White has been fired from his role as Xavier Thorpe in Netflix’s Wednesday because of allegations of sexual assault.
Back in January, an anonymous Twitter user posted that Percy Hynes White had sexually assaulted her while she was at a party. The actor had been hosting the party at his parents’ house in Toronto and supposedly tried to get women drunk in order to have sex with him. The user claimed that he and his friends were also giving alcohol and drugs to other underage girls to try and have sex with them.
Several other users came forward to accuse the Wednesday actor of sexual assault, but the posts have since been deleted.
The young actor had a large role in the first season of Wednesday where he played Xavier Thorpe, a student at Nevermore Academy who could bring his art projects to life.
Percy Hynes White has come forward to address the accusations, saying that they are false claims and that they were started as a misinformation campaign. A photo of him with his friend Jane was shared during the accusation, and he argues that she was not a victim. Supposedly, she has come forward to try and clear up any confusion, but she has been ignored.
The parents of Percy Hynes White have also come forward to defend their son. Both Joel Thomas Hynes and Sherry White have said that the rumors are false and that Percy is a good, respectable young man. They have both argued against Netflix for dropping their son from Wednesday based solely on accusations.
The young actor had a large role in the first season of Wednesday where he played Xavier Thorpe, a student at Nevermore Academy who could bring his art projects to life. Jenna Ortega’s character suspected that he was the Hyde monster, but it actually turned out to be her love interest, Tyler. The end of the first season left Xavier and Wednesday on good terms, so Percy Hynes White was supposed to return for the second season.
He will once again star alongside Jenna Ortega in the dramatic film Winter Spring Summer or Fall in which two young lovers fall in love over the course of four days throughout the year.
Now that he has been written out of the next season, the creative minds behind the Netflix show will need to come up with a storyline to explain away his absence or replace him with another actor. While the Hollywood strikes continue, Netflix has been unable to make further decisions on casting.
While Percy Hynes White will no longer be in the Wednesday TV series, he still has a few other projects on his plate that are currently in post-production. He will once again star alongside Jenna Ortega in the dramatic film Winter Spring Summer or Fall in which two young lovers fall in love over the course of four days throughout the year. He will also appear in the upcoming comedy My Old Ass which also stars Aubrey Plaza and Maggie Ziegler.
The plot and release date for the second season of Wednesday have not been announced yet, but the first season is currently available on Netflix.
