Wayne’s World 3 Happening With Mike Myers And Dana Carvey?
Dana Carvey says he's game for Wayne's World 3, but he won't say anything definite about the threequel.
Mike Myers and Dana Carvey’s 1992 comedy Wayne’s World has had a huge influence on pop culture, most notably popularizing the infamously annoying catchphrase of all awkward middle school boys in the 90s and 2000s, “That’s what she said.” Almost 30 years later, the two could return for a Wayne’s World 3. According to an article from JoBlo.com, Carvey said that another film is still on the table during an award event to celebrate former Saturday Night Live castmate Adam Sandler.
During the event at the Kennedy Center to celebrate Sandler’s receipt of the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, reporters caught up with Wayne’s World star Dana Carvey and asked if a Wayne’s World 3 was possible. The actor responded, “Yes, it is.” He added that he is “always game” and praised franchise co-star Mike Myers, calling him “Just a brilliant guy.”
This is not the first time that there has been a buzz on the internet about Wayne’s World 3. Last month, Carvey posted a picture to his Instagram of him and Myers returning to what looked like the set of Wayne’s World. The post showed Carvey and Myers in the iconic basement and sparked rumors that the two were at work on a return to the franchise.
Before this, the most recent hint at a Wayne’s World 3 was the appearance of Garth and Wayne during the 2021 Super Bowl. Featured in an ad for Uber Eats, the two teamed up with none other than rapper Cardi B to promote eating local through Uber Eats. The commercial saw the two performing a quick TikTok, hoisting up babies, and spoofing the “shameless manipulation” advertisements used to plug their products.
These recent appearances have made fans wonder if, after 30 years, the two might be gearing up for a return to the Wayne’s World franchise with a third film. The movie franchise went cold after the release of Wayne’s World 2 in 1993, with signs of life being slim to none despite the original Wayne’s World’s cultural impact.
The original Wayne’s World was released in 1992 and featured Myers and Carvey as Wayne and Garth, respectively, two rock music enthusiasts and public-access television show hosts operating out of Wayne’s parents’ basement. The original saw Wayne and Garth fighting the man against the corporatization of their show, while the sequel had the duo organizing a rock music festival for some of their favorite bands.
Before Wayne’s World, Carvey and Myers worked together on Saturday Night Live. On the show, the two would first take on the roles of Wayne and Garth, as the film was born out of an SNL skit. Although highly unlikely, some fans think that it could be possible for the actors to return to the show to announce Wayne’s World 3.
Since filming Wayne’s World 2, Carvey has starred in the comedy film Master of Disguise in 2002, the animated film The Secret Life of Pets in 2016, and most recently, its sequel The Secret Life of Pets 2 in 2019. Mike Myers had major success with the Austin Powers franchise in the 90s, beginning with 1997’s Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery and his iconic role as Shrek in the 2001 animated film of the same name and subsequent franchise. With both actors enjoying commercial success and over 30 years since the original film, it could be time for them to reunite for Wayne’s World 3.
