When Vincent D’Onofrio was cast as Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin, he became one of the most perfect casted characters in all of Marvel. The man embodies the character so well, that fans were wanting to see him stay in the MCU for the foreseeable future. He was initially only part of the Netflix Daredevil series before he was finally indoctrinated into the MCU via the Hawkeye series. While his last appearance could have meant his death, as Echo pulled the trigger on the man, we all know a simple bullet is not enough to take down one of the biggest Marvel villains. Well, now D’Onofrio has teased his own character’s return. You can see the image below:
While we don’t see Vincent D’Onofrio in his white suit and iconic bald head, we are given a simple token from Fisk. The above image of a flask with Fisk’s name on it is all we need to go wild with excitement. While Fisk’s nice, Echo, may have shot him, their story is far from over. D’Onofrio is set to be an integral part of the Echo series, which is part of the MCU Phase 5 plans. Also, it has been confirmed that the actor is also going to be a huge part of the new Daredevil: Born Again series. What would Daredevil be without his most iconic villain?
Vincent D’Onofrio is part of the MCU, as is Charlie Cox’s Daredevil, but we are not sure how Kingpin fits into everything. He is going to be part of the Echo and Daredevil shows, but will he be branching out as a big baddie for the rest of the MCU? We have seen Matt Murdock appear in the MCU via Spider-Man: No Way Home. However, Wilson Fisk has been grounded to the television shows in the MCU so far. Apart from being a huge antagonist to Daredevil, Kingpin has always been a massive antagonist force for Spider-Man as well. It would be quite fantastic if Kingpin is brought in to serve as a future villain for whoever decides to suit up as the Wall-Crawler. Even more so, Kevin Feige has announced that the next big Marvel villain would be announced soon. It could be Kang, it could be Dr. Doom, and it could be Kingpin. They could all work together as well.
Echo is set to debut on Disney+ in the summer of 2023, with Daredevil: Born again following in the spring of 2024. We do know that Vincent D’Onofrio is going to be in Echo, as is Daredevil. However, with Daredevil appearing in She-Hulk, could we see D’Onofrio make his way into other MCU entries too? That would be the hope.
While the MCU film world prepares for Kang, as he is going to be an integral part of the Avengers films that are to come out, maybe Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin could take the reins as the main TV show villain. The villain could stay more grounded and allow the interstellar things to be handled by someone of Kang’s power. Kingpin can run the streets. Either way, we are excited to see the Kingpin is returning.
