Vincent D’Onofrio Responds To Daredevil: Born Again Major Changes
Vincent D’Onofrio, who plays Kingpin in Daredevil: Born Again, has shared a reassuring statement about the series amid reports of major behind-the-scenes changes. Responding to a quip about how his previous comments hyping the Disney+ series didn’t age well, the actor said, “Unless you really know what’s going on, there’s a chance you could be wrong about this statement. We are going to bring forward the best series we can. One we can be proud of. Have some trust, my friend, trust.”
On October 11, it was revealed that Daredevil: Born Again head writers Chris Ord and Matt Corman were removed from the project.
Vincent D’onofrio went on to explain how changes to Daredevil: Born Again are completely normal within the realm of television. “Every cool project I’ve been involved with has evolved constantly during pre-production, production, and post. It’s just reported on these days as if it’s big news,” he said. “It’s not. It’s simple. A bunch of creatives doing their best to get it right. It’s a constant in this business. I wouldn’t have it any other way. Frankly, I’d be worried if we were settling for less.”
On October 11, it was revealed that Daredevil: Born Again head writers Chris Ord and Matt Corman were removed from the project. While Vincent D’Onofrio insists that the shuffle is normal, the directors for the upcoming episodes were also replaced. Even though less than half the planned 18 episodes had been filmed by that point, Marvel Studios decided that an overhaul was necessary because studio bosses were dissatisfied.
Marvel is currently searching for new writers and directors, while Corman and Ord will serve as executive producers. Although certain scenes and episodes will remain unchanged, Marvel plans to bring new elements into the story. This shift in Daredevil: Born Again comes after the reported challenges faced during the production of Secret Invasion, which set new records for difficulties.

Vincent D’Onofrio on Daredevil: Born Again
Daredevil: Born Again, featuring Vincent D’Onofrio, has faced several obstacles during production. In July, filming was halted due to strikes by the Writers Guild of America and the Screen Actors Guild‐American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. This led to a delay in the show’s release amidst numerous scheduling changes within the Marvel universe.
Furthermore, the decision to recast Vanessa Fisk, originally portrayed by Ayelet Zurer in Netflix’s Daredevil, has stirred up a mixed reaction among fans. The role will now be taken on by Sandrine Holt. Notably, even Steven DeKnight, the former showrunner for Daredevil, publicly criticized Disney for distancing Born Again from the earlier Netflix series, which ran for three seasons.
When Will Daredevil: Born Again Release?
Vincent D’Onofrio is set to return to his role as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, a business tycoon and crime boss who temporarily sets aside his conflicts with Matt Murdock/Daredevil (portrayed by Charlie Cox) to protect the citizens of New York. The series, set for release in January 2025, also stars Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/Punisher and Michael Gandolfini as Daniel Blade.
Wilson Fisk/Kingpin made his Marvel Comics debut in 1967’s The Amazing Spider-Man #50. The large, physically imposing crime lord is primarily associated with the Spider-Man and Daredevil comic book series. Still, he has crossed paths with many other Marvel heroes and villains over the years. He’s often seen as a complex character with shades of morality and a need to maintain control over his criminal empire.
Vincent D’Onofrio was cast as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Netflix series Daredevil, which premiered in 2015. His casting was well-received by fans and critics who praised the actor for capturing the character’s inner turmoil, cunning, and intimidating presence.
Vincent D’Onofrio’s casting was a part of Marvel’s plan to bring street-level superheroes to the screen with a darker, grittier tone than the films. His portrayal of the character was a key factor in Daredevil’s popularity and the success of the Marvel Netflix series.
