Tyrese Gibson Says Judge Hates His Guts In Court Case

By Britta DeVore | Published

Smooth singer and actor Tyrese Gibson is having a rough week down in Georgia after the performer was arrested earlier this week when a judge found him in contempt of court for failure to pay child support. The entertainer has been dealing with a handful of legal issues stemming from a tumultuous case with his ex-wife. The disdain between Gibson and the judge is mutual as the former said the latter “hates my guts” and even added that it was “unbearable being in court with him.”

Gibson’s Legal Issues

The judge in Tyrese Gibson’s case gave him an ultimatum this week after the singer’s arrest, allowing him to pay $73,500 or spend more time behind bars. Gibson believes that the judge is lashing out against him and is power-hungry, only wanting to knock Gibson down a peg. Fighting back against the immense cash penalty, Gibson says that he and his attorneys plan to appeal the judge’s ruling.

Taking to social media to share his pain with his followers, Tyrese Gibson had a message for the judge and his ex-wife, Samantha Lee Gibson, after he was released from jail on Tuesday. Believing that the pair had teamed up to make his life a living hell, the actor posted several messages aimed at both parties, writing that being arrested was “very traumatic” and questioning why they held so much hate for him to make him go through it.

Commentary On Fatherhood

Seeming to almost brush off the reason that he’s in trouble with the law and what his ex-spouse is asking of him, Tyrese Gibson has been outspoken about the fact that his financial success and material possessions aren’t what makes him a good father. Instead, he said that it’s the connection a parent has with their child that proves their love and devotion. And, although this is certainly true, it doesn’t fully help his case when it comes to the financial aid that his ex is requesting from him.

Youth and young adults of the ‘90s will remember Tyrese Gibson’s rise to fame as – first and foremost – an R&B singer after his hit song, “Nobody Else”, arrived on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1998. The single was just one of the tracks on his self-titled album that was released the same year, which solidified his name as a pop star.

Quickly spreading his wings and dipping into other entertainment ventures, Tyrese Gibson largely left his music career behind to go after his dreams of being a movie star. His first acting gig would come opposite fellow singer-turned-actor, Monica, in the MTV movie, Love Song. Things quickly took off for Gibson from here, as the actor landed his follow-up role in the 2001 coming-of-age drama, Baby Boy, in which he starred alongside the likes of Snoop Dogg, Ving Rhames, Omar Gooding, Taraji P. Henson, and more.

In 2003, Tyrese Gibson joined cinema’s favorite family, adding his name to the call sheet of 2 Fast 2 Furious in the role of Roman Pearce. In the more than two decades since, the actor has reprised his role a handful of times, with his most recent return happening in last year’s Fast X. Gibson also dipped into the Transformers franchise, and has continued to keep his big-screen career rolling for more than two decades.
