True Crime Fans Need To Binge Max Serial Killer Docuseries For A Creepy Forgotten Murderer

Since Warner Bros. and Discovery merged, Max subscribers have been the very lucky recipients of some incredible true crime productions that otherwise would have only been available through another outlet. Most recently, the streamer added Investigation Discovery’s intriguing docuseries, Born Evil: The Serial Killer and The Savior to its collection, with the title quickly climbing up the ranks of Max’s Top 10.

Now, audiences can learn all about the lesser-known serial killer, Hadden Clark, and the atrocious crimes that he committed before being captured by police.

Seven Episodes Dive Into The Crimes Of Hadden Clark

Tracing Hadden Clark’s timeline of killings over seven episodes, the first two installments of Born Evil reveal the crimes that put the serial killer behind bars. One was the mysterious disappearance of a young girl who seemed to vanish into thin air in her suburban community and the other was the equally puzzling disappearance of a young woman.

As detectives are looking into the latter of the two cases, they begin to realize that one of their prime suspects was also questioned in the case of the missing little girl from years prior.

Help From An Unlikely Place

Having finally cracked the code, the authorities arrest Hadden Clark for the college-aged woman’s disappearance, eventually learning that it was a murder. This is when Born Evil really picks up as, once behind bars, Clark believed that his cellmate, Jack Truitt, was Jesus Christ and began attempting to cleanse his soul by confessing to murder after murder. With Truitt’s help, the police were able to investigate the claims admitted by the increasingly unstable serial killer.

You’ll Want To Binge Every Episode

There are a lot of factors that go into Born Evil that make it an incredibly binge-worthy series. The first lies in the main subject himself, as Hadden Clark is much lesser known than other killers like Ted Bundy, Jeffrey Dahmer, and John Wayne Gacy. Still, his crimes are on par with the others, having been convicted of two brutal murders and confessing to dozens more.

Ran In The Family

Another interesting piece of what makes Born Evil come together so well is how it digs into Hadden Clark’s childhood and the strained family dynamics that played a part in making him the sociopath he would become.

In fact, not only did Hadden turn out to have killer tendencies but so did his brother, Bradfield Clark. Worthy of a docuseries all on his own, Bradfield was arrested and convicted of murdering, dismembering, and cannibalizing a woman in 1985.

Throughout Born Evil, audiences hear from a handful of people who had first-hand experiences with Hadden Clark’s crimes. Perhaps the most interesting interviews come from Hadden Clark’s other brother, Geoff Clark, who believes that his choice to evict Hadden from his home led to Hadden murdering the little girl. Geoff also gives plenty of insight into what it was like to grow up in the Clark household.

Bad Boys, Transformers, and Pearl Harbor director Michael Bay not only joins Born Evil as an executive producer but the blockbuster director’s voice can also be heard throughout the series during one-on-one interviews with Clark, who is still alive and serving his sentence behind bars.
