Actor Tricia Helfer has posted a peek at her stunning look in the new movie Spin Me Round, which she co-stars in with Alison Brie and Aubrey Plaza. The Battlestar Galactica star recently put an image up on Instagram that appears to be a still from the movie (which premiered at the 2022 SXSW festival), complete with an editing frame and a cross-hair. In the picture, Helfer in character as “Sofia” appears to be standing in a bathroom (as evidenced by a roll of toilet tissue in the background and some barely visible toiletries). She has an expression that first appears to be a broad and happy smile, but after looking at her for a few minutes longer, it seems a bit fixed and strained. She is wearing a dark gold mini dress that very nearly matches her bronze-tanned skin. The dress has a plunging, deep neckline with a halter-top neck strap. Helfer is wearing a gold and red-stone necklace that ends in a large pendant. Her blonde hair is up and pushed down across her head. It’s just a fantastic, fantastic look. Check it out here:
Spin Me Round reportedly features Tricia Helfer is a supporting role, centering on Alison Brie’s character. Brie, who co-wrote the film along with director and frequent collaborator Jeff Baena, stars as Amber, the manager of Tuscan Grove (an Olive Garden-style family eatery), who is invited to go to a corporate further managerial program actually in Italy. While she and roommate Ego Nwodim (of Saturday Night Live) have immediate and high hopes for a fairy-tale romance adventure in the vein of Under the Tuscan Sun, things go awry immediately. Luggage is lost, passports are confiscated, and Amber ends up in a dingy, dilapidated hotel. The film begins by promising Amber (and the audience, implicitly) a romantic comedy, but as it goes on, appears to travel in the darker elements of paranoid thrillers.
While this is Tricia Helfer’s first time working with director Jeff Baena, Alison Brie starred and co-wrote the psychological thriller Horse Girl with him, which was released in 2020. The Community and Promising Young Woman actor also starred in the director’s The Little Hours (based on the 14th-century book The Decameron) in 2017, which additionally featured Aubrey Plaza. Spin Me Round also features an enormously talented ensemble cast that includes Saturday Night Live alumnus Molly Shannon, Tim & Eric’s titular Tim Heidecker, and the upcoming Kraven the Hunter star Alessandro Nivola.
Tricia Helfer first broke out to audiences in the acclaimed reboot of the 1970s science fiction series Battlestar Galactica, starring as Number Six, a seductive member of the new generation of Cylon robots attempting to exterminate humanity. Since the ending of the show in 2009, Helfer has appeared in numerous films and shows, notably playing Charlotte Richards/the Goddess of All Creation in the popular Netflix show Lucifer. Helfer is now appearing in a recurring role on the Starz show Step Up, based on the popular Channing Tatum series films about people stepping up to the challenges of dance competitions.
