Tom Holland Wants To Jump From Spider-Man Movies To TV?
Tom Holland doesn't just have the cinematic universe in mind for Spider-Man. Apparently, he wants in on the television side as well

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has already begun using the television structure and format to tell offbeat stories. We’re four episodes deep in WandaVision and we’re already getting a strong sense of what Marvel and Disney are shooting for with this medium-hopping franchise. Now, one of Marvel’s freshest, most popular faces wants to join in on the fun in some capacity.
In addition to appearing in Sony’s Marvel universe, current Spider-Man actor Tom Holland is reportedly wanting to show up in an Marvel Cinematic Universe television show. According to WeGotThisCovered, Holland has expressed this desire to Sony executives, from whom he’ll need permission if he wants to appear in the Kevin Feige-led productions. No word yet on what form his role would potentially take or if Sony will even allow him to do this, so take this with a grain of salt. We will likely hear more soon enough.
Corporate interest and knotted legality have complicated the rights to Spider-Man for decades. Sony has owned the rights to the character since 1985, but a deal struck in 2015 (around the time the second Avengers film, Age of Ultron, hit theaters) put collaboration between Sony and Disney back in the conversation, primarily concerning the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s event films. To no one’s surprise, Tom Holland has a ton of exciting stuff coming up, and his beloved turn as Spidey seems to only be the beginning. You won’t be hearing any complaints from me. I’ve always maintained that Holland is one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s most charming aspects. Knowing that he is an actor with a range of roles he can readily play just makes watching him even more fun.
Tom Holland made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut back in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, subsequently appearing in the final two Avengers films and two standalone adventures in which Feige was able to secure a producer credit (despite Sony running those two projects). The second solo film, Spider-Man: Far From Home, pulled in over $1 billion in ticket sales. It was a critical success, too, which helped catapult it to even loftier heights.
In terms of other projects he is either slated or rumored to appear in, there was word a few weeks back about Tom Holland possibly becoming the new Willy Wonka. He has also been said to be making a shift over to horror movies in the near future. We will see! That would certainly be interesting.
What do you think, though? Should Tom Holland start showing up on the television side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Given how closely tied the movies and television shows will be, it would honestly make sense for Holland to star (or even just cameo) in a show or three?
Tom Holland had great chemistry with Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan in Captain America: Civil War, so maybe he is gearing up for a surprise appearance in the upcoming Falcon and the Winter Soldier? It will be interesting to see the studio’s response to Holland’s wishes, and I think that if this rumor gets enough traction we will likely hear from the former sooner rather than later. Stay tuned!
