Is Spider-Man: No Way Home the last time Tom Holland will star in a Marvel movie? That seems extremely unlikely. And yet, he doesn’t have a publicly announced contract beyond this film. The movie is being marketed as the end of a trilogy and the young actor has publicly said that a number of times. He’s also suggested that perhaps it is time for him to stop playing Peter Parker. During a recent interview with GQ, he said, “Maybe it is time for me to move on. Maybe what’s best for Spider-Man is that they do a Miles Morales film.” He said that he is currently 25 years old, and that if he’s still playing Peter Parker when he’s 30, he’s doing something wrong. However, during a recent interview with Fandango, Sony producer Amy Pascal was very clear on what she sees happening.
Tom Holland may be unsure of his upcoming Peter Parker future, but Amy Pascal was not. Her interview began asking a question when Pascal interrupted. The interviewer began saying, “You know, as you wrap up this trilogy of films in collaboration with Marvel Studios…” when Amy Pascal asked if she could comment on that. The interviewer said yes, and then Pascal seemed to clarify her own views on whether Spider-Man: No Way Home could be considered the end of a collaboration with Tom Holland or with Marvel Studios.
This is not the last movie that we are going to make with Marvel – [this is not] the last Spider-Man movie. We are getting ready to make the next Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland and Marvel, it just isn’t part of… we’re thinking of this as three films, and now we’re going to go onto the next three. This is not the last of our MCU movies.

The most exciting part of what Amy Pascal says is “and now we’re going to go onto the next three”. Tom Holland has said that Spider-Man: No Way Home is the end of a trilogy, and Amy Pascal doesn’t disagree. However, she does say that another trilogy is clearly on the way, and that she sees this as continuing the partnership between Marvel Studios, Tom Holland, and Sony. It seemed important to the producer to be as clear as she could on how the future of the Spider-Man movies is going to go.
While Amy Pascal was very clear that more Tom Holland movies are something fans can expect, she didn’t do anything to confirm or deny the rumors of Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire appearing in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Fans have two big questions right. One, will the other Spider-Mans be in the movie? Two, is this Tom Holland’s last Marvel movie? While it was great that she clarified one, fans would have likely appreciated that she update them on both at the same time.
Sony has created Spider-Man projects for a long time. Their partnership with Marvel Studios on Tom Holland’s new trilogy has been exciting to see. A lot of fans have had questions about how that partnership will continue moving forward. Seeing Andrew Garfield and Toby Maguire appear in Spider-Man: No Way Home, tying the other Spider-Man movies into Marvel’s Multiverse, would certainly be a comment on that partnership. However, at this point, it seems safe to say that no one will confirm those rumors until the movie actually reaches theaters.
Now that fans know another trilogy is on the way, it will be interesting to see if Spider-Man: No Way Home sets Tom Holland up for the next one. With the Mutliverse in place, and possibly other Spider-Mans established, what stories will the next three movies cover? Will Spider-Gwen ever enter the mix?
Currently, tickets are going on sale for movie theaters in the United States, and that has crashed some movie theaters websites. It seems that every fan wants to get into the movie theaters as soon as possible to see for themselves whether Tom Holland is joined by Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire. They don’t have long to wait now. Spider-Man: No Way Home releases in movie theaters on December 17, 2021.
