There have been a lot of Spider-Man 3 rumors flying around like Peter Parker late on a date with MJ, from villain possibilities to the beginnings of a live-action Spider-verse. But despite no confirmation of these rumors, there is one fact that can be gleamed from on-set footage, which is it looks like at least some of Tom Holland’s third Spider-Man film will take place at Christmas.

Spider-Man 3 is currently filming in Atlanta, which is apparently being made to look like New York City. In footage caught by atlanta_filming, we can see that New York City’s Peter Pan Donut & Pastry Shop has been recreated. Painted on the window can be seen fake snow, a mug of cocoa, a Christmas tree, and a wreath that says “Merry Christmas.” It’s not clear if the entire film will take place at Christmas, but with Tom Holland and crew filming all over Atlanta, there doesn’t seem to be any further evidence of Christmas decorations at other locations.

Tom Holland’s third Spider-Man movie was originally set to be released on July 16, 2021, but was then pushed to November 5, 2021. Now, the film is scheduled for a December 17, 2021 release. Considering the new release date, it makes sense that at least part of Spider-Man 3 would take place at Christmas in order to celebrate the season.

Oddly, Spider-Man 3 will be the first film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to come out during the Christmas season, but it looks as though Marvel might want to unite their superheroes and Christmas together in the next few years. Not only is Spider-Man 3 coming out in time for Christmas, but in 2022, Marvel is making The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. With Spider-Man’s New York City setting, it will be lovely to visit the city during the holidays with Tom Holland and the rest of the cast.

But it sounds as though Spider-Man 3 is on its way to becoming one of the most insane Marvel Cinematic Universe films so far. Kevin Feige has already said that the third Spider-Man film will be part of an unofficial trilogy with WandaVision and Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, which at least hints that we will see Tom Holland’s Spider-Man having to face the enemies within the multiverse. But with Jamie Foxx reprising his The Amazing Spider-Man 2 character of Electro, and Alfred Molina playing Spider-Man 2’s Doc Ock once more, it sounds as though the past and present are going to intertwine in Peter Parker’s next adventure.

There are even further rumors of the craziness coming in Spider-Man 3, from theories that we might see the return of previous Spider-Men like Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, and possibly Kristen Dunst and Emma Stone as well. There’s a lot that can’t be confirmed about this new Spider-Man, and even though it would be cool to see Maguire, Garfield, and Tom Holland all sharing the cocoa around the fire at Christmastime, we’ll have to wait until December 17, 2021 to see if this comes true.
