The final trailer has been released for the upcoming action, adventure movie, Uncharted. Starring as the leading treasure hunters in the feature are Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg who will be joined by an ensemble cast consisting of Antonio Banderas, Sophia Ali, and Tati Gabrielle. So far, we’ve seen several trailers, posters, teasers, and even a behind-the-scenes featurette to usher in the film, but this trailer serves as our last taste of what’s to come.
The trailer shows the buddy-comedy adventure duo, Nathan Drake (Tom Holland) and Victor “Sully” Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg.) As the two set out to uncover “the biggest treasure that’s never been found,” trouble immediately finds them. We see the team fighting off their pursuers and going head to head with several challenging gauntlets that stand in their way.
One scene, in particular, shows Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg’s characters preparing some parachutes in the belly of an airplane. After missing the countdown to don the life saving piece of equipment, Holland’s Nathan Drake is sucked out of the plane onto some cargo boxes that have also taken a dive. After climbing back up to safety, the protagonist makes it onboard the aircraft only to have a sliding car knock him out once again. We also see some ancient pirate ships being uncovered and hoisted up in the air by helicopters.
The Ruben Fleischer directed film is set to crash into theaters on February 18. Pulling its story from the Naughty Dog video game by the same name, Uncharted follows the story of bartender Nathan as he joins adventure master, Sully, on not only the adventure of a lifetime, but also a quest to find Nathan’s long lost brother. The video game series gained a massive cult following and earned several awards, so it’s no shocker the story finally got its on screen makeover.
Outside of Uncharted, Tom Holland may be best known for his role as the titular character in Marvel’s latest Spider-Man franchise. Back in December, Spider-Man: No Way Home, took theaters and fans by storm as it crushed box office records everywhere. A continuation of the story of Peter Parker, the film brought in new and old characters alike and followed the fallout that took place after Spider-Man and Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) opened the doors to the multiverse.
After a childhood career in small roles on film, Tom Holland first donned the red-and-blue Spidey suit in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War. Since then, the star has mostly appeared in Marvel films, so, even though we love his portrayal as the web slinging superhero, we are thrilled to see him in a new part. The actor looks like he’ll shine in Uncharted as his time performing in high flying superhero films are bound to have a positive effect on how Holland tackled this new role.
If the trailer is any indication of what the film will be like, we know that we are in for a treat. Combining an energy that promises to keep audiences on the edge of their seats, paired with a comedic dialogue, Uncharted is bound to be another blockbuster hit for Tom Holland.
