Tom Holland Madame Web Appearance Revealed And We Can’t Believe It
Would an appearance from Tom Holland’s Spider-Man make Madame Web better? Probably not, but it apparently was something that could have happened. Madame Web concept artist Sebastian Meyer recently dropped some scrapped visuals of a scene that would have featured Holland’s cameo as he battled the film’s villain, Ezekiel Sims.
Deleted Madame Web Scene
The scrapped scenes show a version of Spider-Man in a suit that looks just like Tom Holland in Madame Web as he fights Ezekial Sims in midair.
The scenes were likely scrapped because it wouldn’t have made much sense for Tom Holland’s Spidey to show up in Madame Web.
It wouldn’t be the first MCU cameo in Sony’s Spider movies, but it would certainly continue the trend of those cameos being strange and out of place.
Other Cameos?
In fact, Tom Holland’s first Spider-Man nemesis, Michael Keaton’s Vulture aka Adrian Toomes, previously appeared in the also-terrible Morbius.
But his cameo was completely inconsequential and even Keaton himself didn’t really understand why he was there.
It’s hard to imagine that Tom Holland showing up for a Madame Web scene would have gone much differently.
Madame Web Massive Failure
Madame Web ended up being a failure just as bad as Morbius despite a star-studded cast.
The film featured Dakota Johnson, Sydney Sweeney, Emma Roberts, Adam Scott, Isabela Merced, Tahar Rahim, and Celeste O’Connor and still was a massive box office bomb.
Tom Holland’s Spider-Man making a quick nonsensical appearance in Madame Web likely wouldn’t have changed any of that.
Only Venom Still Winning
On top of being a box office bomb, Madame Web was met with scathing reviews and was just as memed as Morbius.
For now, the Venom franchise seems to be the only thing holding Sony’s live-action Spider-Man films together.
Enough so that Tom Hardy’s Venom even made a cameo in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Kraven The Hunter Coming
But, Sony seems intent on continuing to pursue its floundering Spider universe despite the unmitigated failures of Morbius and Madame Web.
The Aaron Taylor-Johnson film Kraven the Hunter is still on the horizon, and it seems unlikely that we will see a Tom Holland cameo in it either.
If Kraven the Hunter ends up flopping like Madame Web, we might see Sony finally give up on these films.
Build On The Spider-Verse?
What makes these movies even more baffling is the fact that Sony has the massively successful animated Spider-Verse films.
If Sony would just give up on live-action films like Madame Web and make more of those fantastic movies, fans would likely be much happier.
But, for now, we’ll just have to continue watching Sony try to make this cinematic universe happen.
Tom Holland Could Return To Spider-Man
Meanwhile, Tom Holland’s next MCU appearance as Spider-Man has yet to be confirmed, but it seems almost inevitable after the massive success of Spider-Man: No Way Home and where that film leaves his character.
There are also upcoming Avengers movies like Avengers: Secret Wars, where Holland’s Spidey could definitely make another appearance. But, even if Holland decides not to return to the role in the future, we can at least take solace in the fact that his final appearance as Spidey wasn’t in the Madame Web movie.
